Former Crystal Palace boss Frank De Boer is the 13/8 favourite to become the next manager of Rangers.
Graeme Murty has come under increasing pressure as the season has progressed, with the 4-0 hammering by rivals Celtic their latest defeat.
They do sit 2nd in the SPFL standings, but find themselves 13 points behind Brendan Rodgers' champions at the top.
De Boer, 47, enjoyed a spell at Rangers during his playing career. The defender made 15 appearances for the Ibrox club back in 2004.
His managerial career has seen him take charge of Italian side Inter and Dutch giants Ajax, before signing a three-year deal with Palace last summer.

He was sacked after just ten weeks in the job though having failed to win any of his opening Premier League games.
Rangers' woes continued when they confirmed that they had suspended club captain Lee Wallace and experienced striker Kenny Miller amid the fall-out of their defeat to Celtic.
The pair were called to a disciplinary meeting at Ibrox on Tuesday morning amid claims they undermined Murty during a heated post-match analysis of Sunday's William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final.
There were more signs of internal strife at Hampden with both Andy Halliday and Daniel Candeias reacting angrily after being substituted, before Alfredo Morelos and Greg Docherty were seen shouting at each other as they left the pitch.
Murty only has a deal as Rangers boss until the summer and was given little reassurance he would be kept on in a statement to fans by chairman Dave King last week.

De Boer found himself involved in a recent public spat with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho after he criticised his handling of forward Marcus Rashford, who has seen limited first-team opportunities for United this season.
De Boer had praised Rashford after Manchester United's win over Liverpool, claiming that it is a 'pity' the forward plays under Mourinho at Old Trafford.
That prompted an angry response from the Portuguese coach, who hit back by saying "I read some quote from the worst manager in the history of the Premier League, Frank de Boer.
"He was saying that it is not good for Marcus Rashford to have a coach like me, because the most important thing for me is to win.
"If he was coached by Frank, he would learn how to lose because he lost every game."
Current Preston North End boss Alex Neil joins ex-England manager Glenn Hoddle and Kilmarnock's Steve Clarke as the other front runners for the Rangers job next season.
