Uruguay's impressive World Cup campaign could be scuppered by an injury to Edinson Cavani, with coach Oscar Tabarez admitting he is a doubt for their quarter-final clash with France.
Cavani scored both goals as Uruguay beat Portugal 2-1 in Sochi on Saturday to move into the last eight, but he limped out of the game late on and is now a doubt for Friday's quarter-final.
The South American's, popular dark horses in Russia, are 14/1 to win the World Cup after beating Portugal but face a tough assignment with France in the last eight and then Brazil or Belgium possibly waiting in the semis.
Cavani's double took him to three goals for the tournament and saw his Golden Boot odds tumble from 66/1 to 25/1 but the focus is now on his fitness for the France game.
"He was injured and he felt pain," Tabraez said. "I don't know right now exactly because I have not spoken to the medical team.
"But in five days we have a match and we don't have a lot of time for recovery here. We will have an analysis and a diagnosis in time, but right now we are only worried of course.
"We don't know for sure how grave this injury really is."
31-year-old Cavani says he was hopeful over the injury, but it's clear that there is a worrying doubt over the PSG man's availability.
"I hope the pain turns out to be nothing," said Cavani.
"I just felt something at one point and couldn't recover. I hope (to be fit), I'll do everything to make sure I can take to the field with my teammates,
"I am really happy to see all these people partying."
