Liverpool assistant manager Zeljko Buvac is now the favourite for the Arsenal job after his odds were slashed from 40/1 to 2/1 to replace Arsene Wenger.
Buvac has been backed in from 40/1 to 2/1 with Sky Bet reporting money for the Bosnian on the back of reports from his own country of him replacing Arsene Wenger in north London.
Buvac left Anfield this week on a leave of absence, with Liverpool insisting his departure is due to a personal matter and that his position at the club is unaffected.
However, reports in the Bosnian media have suggested that Buvac is on his way to the Emirates to replace Arsene Wenger as Gunners boss.
- 3/1 Massimiliano Allegri
- 4/1 Luis Enrique
- 4/1 Zeljko Buvac
- 5/1 Brendan Rodgers
The man nicknamed ‘the brain’ has been Klopp’s right hand man for the best part of two decades having been with him at both Mainz and Borussia Dortmund before moving to Liverpool.
Early reports had pointed to a breakdown in the relationship between the two old friends, but now the situation has taken a twist with money coming in for Buvac to go to Arsenal on the back of reports in his native Bosnia.
The timing of the situation could hardly have been worse, with Buvac leaving the first team squad just before their Champions League semi-final tie in Roma on Wednesday.
