Former AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley finds himself as the favourite to replace Harry Kewell at Notts County.
Kewell was sacked on Tuesday, having held the position for just ten weeks. He won three of the 14 games in charge at the club, conceding at least four goals on three separate occasions.
Crawley, the club Kewell left to take up the role at Meadow Lane, currently sit nine points above Notts in the Sky Bet League Two table.
Ardley is out of work having left AFC Wimbledon at the start of the week with the club battling against relegation from League One.
Wimbledon chief executive Erik Samuelson told the club's website "Neal has been a credit to the club in everything he has done.
"He leaves with my personal thanks and gratitude for what he has done in his time here at AFC Wimbledon."
Ardley achieved promotion to League One with Wimbledon in 2016 after beating Plymouth in the play-off final. Notts, the pre-season favourites with Sky Bet to win the League Two title, will most likely have to settle for safety this season.

Former Leeds, Huddersfield and Preston manager Simon Grayson has been installed as an early second-favourite, joined by Michael Appleton who is out of work after leaving Leicester in June.
Paul Hurst, favourite to replace Ardley at Wimbledon and also favourite to make a return to Shrewsbury, is in at 9/1 alongside Steve Chettle who takes temporary charge.
Speaking about the decision to sack Kewell, chairman Alan Hardy told the club website "Harry’s passion and commitment as a coach is unquestionable.
"I enjoyed seeing first-hand his love for the job and it gives me absolutely no pleasure to take that away from him. Unfortunately, however, things quite simply were not working out for him here at Meadow Lane.
"Results have not been good enough and performance levels are a continuing concern. We see no reason to continue with something we don’t think can work.
"Harry leaves with our best wishes for the future and our search for a new manager begins immediately. We hope to make an appointment before Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two match at home to Cheltenham Town."
