Boss Pep Guardiola fears Manchester City will be without Sergio Aguero for the rest of the season after the striker suffered a knee injury in their 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday night.
The Argentine was forced off just before half-time after being fouled by Burnley's Ben Mee that resulted in a penalty, from which City scored their second goal.
Aguero sits on 16 Premier League goals, level with Mo Salah and three behind top scorer Jamie Vardy and is as long as 9/1 to finish the campaign as the division's leading striker.
Aguero will travel to Barcelona for further examination of a knee injury amid fears the Manchester City striker’s season is over.
Aguero hobbled off in the first half of Monday’s 5-0 win over Burnley after clutching his left knee both before and after a foul by Ben Mee for which City were awarded a penalty.
City said: “The striker will now travel to Barcelona to see Dr Ramon Cugat for further examination.
“Everyone at City wishes Sergio the best with his recovery.”
The player also tweeted:
The scans I did this morning have confirmed that I have damaged my left knee. It’s a pity but I’m in good spirits and so focused to come back as soon as possible. Thank you very much for all your messages!

After the game, Guardiola had said: “It doesn’t look good unfortunately, so we’ll see tomorrow [Wednesday] if he is in a better way.
“He felt something in his knee. He has struggled in the last month, some pain in his knee, so we will see.”
"Now we will see just how bad it is. I’m not a doctor, but it doesn’t look good for the rest of the season.”
