Not many trainers would be entitled to be disappointed with a return of 'just' two victories from the five Classics to have been run in Britain and Ireland so far this year, but you can rest assured that Aidan O'Brien and the Ballydoyle empire won't be entirely satisfied.

The Oaks victory for Forever Together on Friday will have settled the nerves ahead of Saxon Warrior's bid for glory in the second leg of the Triple Crown and there really is very little not to like.

He's always looked like a Derby prospect and winning the Guineas in such impressive fashion should not be considered a negative for him going up to a mile and a half. He's just much the best three-year-old colt around and can prove the point in today's feature.

Earlier on the Derby day card, there's money for George in the opening handicap which looks significant given his trainer's fine record at the track, and in this race in particular, while the talented and progressive Century Dream rates a solid selection in the Diomed Stakes under William Buick.

The "Dash" is a frantic spectacle but also a good betting opportunity as the nature of the race won't suit every participant. Duke Of Firenze is borderline Group class and rates a big danger but preference is for Dark Shot who went close for Andrew Balding here 12 months ago and has since been picked up shrewdly by Scott Dixon.

He has a way with sprinters and the five-year-old is well drawn in 19, with the capable Jamie Gormley taking off a handy 5lb in the saddle.
