Developed into a useful sprinter in 2025, winning twice, including showing marked improvement for the addition of blinkers in 18-runner handicap at Newbury (heavy) final start. Well below that level in 2 comeback outings in June but this is a slight drop in grade.

Won an all-weather novice at Chelmsford for Hilal Kobeissi in 2023. Useful form when runner-up 4 times in Qatar in early 2025. Has a long absence to overcome (has been gelded) but needs checking out in the betting for a new trainer who had several run well at York last week.

Lightly raced for his age, ending 2025 with a 6f Windsor win (good to firm). Respectable efforts on both starts this year and has dipped to only 1 lb above the mark he defied at Windsor. Considered.

Likeable type who returned to best when winning 20-runner 6f handicap at York in May and doubled his tally for the season at Ripon (6f, good to firm) at the start of this month. Respectable third of 14 in Great St Wilfrid there a fortnight ago. Same mark today.

Successful on return/stable debut at Pontefract in April and has quickly made up into a reliable sprint handicapper typical of the yard. His hold-up tactics weren't seen to best effect when fourth of 9 at Pontefract latest and he's almost certainly still at the top of his game.

Suited by stepping back up to 6f when scoring twice at Doncaster at the start of the summer but his run of good form has come to a halt twice since.

Very lightly raced 3-y-o who has looked potentially smart when comfortably landing 6f novice events at Yarmouth (soft) and Leicester (good to firm) this summer. Lacks experience for a race like this but this highly promising sort could still be up to the task.

Without a win since last spring (last 3 wins on all-weather) but returned to form on the back of a breathing operation when second at Chester in June. Might be worth forgiving a subsequent below-par effort in a big-field Class 2 at York. His regular cheekpieces were missing at York but go back on.

Back to winning ways in first-time cheekpieces at Ayr (6f, firm) in July and another good effort in the new headgear when third of 9 at his beloved Hamilton (9 wins there) last Friday.

Both wins on Newcastle's all-weather, including a 6f handicap in May, but his eyecatching fifth of 27 in Palace of Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot (5f, good to firm) proves he's effective on turf. Failed to fire in another top 3-y-o handicap at the Newmarket July meeting but could bounce back.

Got off the mark in maiden at Ffos Las last summer. Made an encouraging return on the back of a gelding operation when length second of 6 to Grasmere Boy in handicap at Chester (6f, good to firm) in July, clear of rest. Has to be taken seriously for top connections.

Placed at listed level as a 2-y-o in 2024 but found things tough last term. Off 13 months ahead of first run since leaving Alice Haynes. The betting should help guide to expectations.

Arrives in decent heart, building on some in-frame efforts to snap a 2-year losing run in a 20-runner race at Ripon (6f, good to firm) under Oisin Orr 13 days ago. Should remain competitive off 5 lb higher.

Successful 5 times in 2025. Yet to score during the current campaign but back on form when runner-up twice in July and had a possible excuse (raced on slightly disadvantaged side) when back in the pack behind stablemate Woodstock at Ripon latest. Jake Dickson takes handy 5 lb off.

Verdict

A useful sprint. ANYASI had Monday's Musselburgh handicap winner Two Commanders behind in second when comfortably defying a penalty at Leicester last time and even an opening mark of 90 could underestimate this exciting colt. Veblen Good is shaping up to be one of those reliable David O'Meara handicappers and gets the nod for the forecast spot with Conor Whiteley taking a handy 5 lb off. Art Lover, another unexposed 3-y-o, is next on the list ahead of Durham Castle.
