Union Island⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 9-9| J: S D Bowen| T: C Johnston| OR: 62| BF

5/2

Three wins from 9 runs last year, the latest at Southwell in December. 11/10, good third of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 9 days ago, not ideally placed. Has to be taken seriously.

Form: 0611-33

(7)

Bella Veneta¹¹⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 9-9| J: R Havlin| T: T Faulkner| OR: 61

6/1

8/1, respectable third of 14 in handicap at Bath (8f, soft). Off 116 days ahead of this tapeta debut. Will be a threat if taking to this surface.

Form: 9/04443-

(4)

Douglas Dc^p¹⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 9-8| J: Rossa Ryan| T: A W Carroll| OR: 60

4/1

Creditable fourth of 9 in handicap (22/1) at Lingfield (12f, AW) 16 days ago, needing stiffer test. Back down in trip for this tapeta debut and unlikely to be far away.

Form: 9/4932-4

(5)

Meet Me In Meraki⁵¹

Age: 4| Weight: 9-7| J: George Downing| T: P D Evans| OR: 60

14/1

Latest win at Chepstow in July. Bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f, 10/1) 51 days ago. Others more persuasive.

Form: 152275-

(6)

Juan Solo²²

Age: 4| Weight: 9-7| J: Rob Hornby| T: S Kirk| OR: 60

40/1

Last of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW, 100/1) 22 days ago. Significantly up in trip and he's probably best watched on this occasion.

Form: 633/30-8

(3)

Mostly Mozart¹²

Age: 4| Weight: 9-4| J: Archie Young⁽⁵⁾| T: R T Phillips| OR: 57

9/1

Lightly-raced maiden. 100/1, very good third of 10 in handicap at this C&D 12 days ago, nearest finish. Definite chance if able to build on that, albeit a stiffer test would probably be ideal.

Form: 040-3

Forecasts

Tasmanian Legend (9/4), Union Island (5/2), Douglas Dc (4/1), Bella Veneta (6/1), Mostly Mozart (9/1), Meet Me In Meraki (14/1), Juan Solo (40/1)

The most appealing of these is the in-form UNION ISLAND, who wasn't ideally positioned when the race began in earnest at Chelmsford recently and did well to finish as close as he did. The 4-y-o shapes as though well worth a try over this trip and remains feasibly treated. Bella Veneta and Mostly Mozart can fill the places.
