Bred to be smart. Winning chance seemed to be cost by racing freely last time so did well to take third at Kempton (7f) last month. Needs to settle but yard's horses can't be discounted.
Price increased to 350,000 gns as a yearling. By top juvenile Shalaa. First foal out of dam who placed between 1m-1m4f, closely related to Group placed 5f performer One Chance. Taking pedigree and one to note on debut.
Very well bred. Solid enough second on debut last month and highly tried in Windsor Castle Stakes after. Not disgraced when beaten only 8L and that form looks strong. Leading contender.
Acclamation colt. Not fancied on debut over 6f at this venue and never got into the contest, finishing 5L sixth. Up in trip but this looks a tough contest. Makes limited appeal.
Looks to be a slowly progressing sort on his two runs this season, with latest being 5L sixth in 6f Chepstow maiden last month. Needs a considerable step up in this and looks one for long-term.
Dubawi colt by a very classy Brazilian mare. Not entirely disgraced when attempting to make the running in 7f Doncaster maiden and yard can step these up over time. Jockey booking notable. Claims.
€220,000 yearling. Closely related to 1m2f winner Unex Michelangelo, half-sister to French Oaks winner Fancy Blue and Listed winner Smuggler's Cove (7f). Taking pedigree and notable if market support on debut.
Forecasts
Boomshalaa (11/4), Fast Start (3/1), Zookeeper (4/1), Barber Of Seville (11/2), Harold Shand (9/1), Miss Chess (10/1), Spanish Colt (18/1)
Some top trainers tend to send their higher-quality juveniles to the Norfolk track and this race looks to be no exception. Barber Of Seville has bumped into some smart sorts already this term and should be learning with racing for a powerful yard, while the likes of Boomshalaa and Miss Chess are regally bred and will have high expectations on their debut. However, preference is for FAST START, who raced well over an inadequate trip at Royal Ascot last time. The winner of that has gone on to land the Group 2 July Stakes, and given his dam was a Group 1-winning juvenile over 1m, this trip should be no issue.
- Fast Start
- Boomshalaa
- Barber Of Seville
