Rip Van Winkle filly who was tailed off on her bumper debut at Gowran Park in January. Has changed yards since and both a drop in trip and a switch to AW could be in her favour.
Golden Horn colt, half-brother to two Group winners. Produced a promising debut at Kempton when green but didn't build on that when favourite at Sandown (slowly away both runs). Still early days and step up in trip should help.
New Approach gelding, cost 70,000 gns as a yearling. Dam a Listed winner and half-sister to Group 3 winner. Interesting debutante if market vibes are confident.
Australia gelding, unraced for Aidan O'Brien, half-brother to three winners and dam a 1m winner. This looks a suitable test but market likely to be the best guide to his chance.
Dark Angel colt, dam related to useful stayer Surya. Likely to be seen at his best over further than this.
Dawn Approach colt, cost €20,000 as a yearling. Beaten a long way on debut but minor progress when third of five at Lingfield in March; may still need more time.
Frankel colt, cost €600,000 as a yearling. Brother to multiple Group placed Syrtis in France and dam a Listed winner. Looks like an obvious contender for a yard that can ready a newcomer.
Son of Muhaarar who was gelded after debut third at Beverley in August when sent off favourite. Shaped like he would relish a step up in trip that day so may do better here.
Invincible Spirit colt, improved from debut to finish runner-up to a mightily impressive Derby contender at Wolverhampton in December. Another who will relish a step up in trip here.
Galileo filly, cost €400,000 as a foal. Dam a Group 2 winner in New Zealand. Form of her fourth on debut at Chelmsford doesn't look special but she's well bred and open to improvement.
Le Havre filly, cost €160,000 as a yearling. Dam closely related to 7f Listed winner. Makes some appeal on pedigree.
Galileo filly, cost €2,000,000 as a yearling. Half-sister to five winners including a Group 1 winner, dam a useful middle distance winner. Fascinating contender on debut.
Forecasts
Byzantine Empire (9/4), Valyrian Steel (11/4), Wise Glory (5/1), Zoran (15/2), Luck On Sunday (9/1), Assayer (16/1), Hatheem (20/1), Mister Blue (28/1), Harbour Of Grace (40/1), Quantum Dawn (66/1), Kangaroo Point (66/1), Miss Seery (200/1)
WISE GLORY may not have justified favouritism on debut at Beverley but he gave the impression more of a stamina test would be up his street and he's taken to improve for a gelding operation. Two well bred newcomers that should be high on the shortlist include Luck On Sunday and Valyrian Steel with the latter taken as the main danger given his yard's ability to get one ready first time up.
- Wise Glory
- Valyrian Steel
- Luck On Sunday
