40/1
Winning point-to-pointer finished a distant third on latest start in April and that form is not good enough in this company.
2

Dubai Destination gelding that went unsold as a three-year-old at €5,500. Dam was a winner of a point, hurdle and chase. Made little impression on debut and significant improvement needed.
3
Horse silk
125/1
Mahler gelding is a brother to useful hurdler Ornua. Looks a long term project at present and jumping needs to improve.

Placed three times as a novice earning a 120 rating in the process. Sets the standard but no surprise if there is something better in the lineup.

Fetched £105,000 after winning two Irish point-to-points in the spring. Nothing remarkable about either the form or the times, but in good hands and debuts in the weaker of the two divisions of this maiden hurdle.
All out to land a Worcester bumper 17 months ago. Some nice sorts have come out of the race, but he is likely to need this and conditions will be much softer.

£20,000 half-brother to smart chaser Ackertac. Will improve for recent run at Cheltenham and the drop to 2m4f. Looks a major contender with that fitness advantage.

Ran well without placing in two bumpers in late 2017 the latest of which came on good-to-soft ground at Plumpton. Returning from a break having had wind surgery since.

€46,000 son of Oscar related to three winners. Trip about right but makes a belated debut and may have been difficult to train.

8/1
Son of Jeremy out of a well-related dam went under the hammer for £110,000 after recording by far the best time of the day when landing a point-to-point. Could turn out useful but stable in the midst of a quiet spell.

Horse silk
100/1
Modest form in point-to-points and a couple of bumpers. Has a fitness edge but little else to recommend him.
12
Horse silk
150/1
Showed some ability in bumpers but then failed to jump fluently over hurdles in April and off the track since.

Super Snipe14

20/1
Cost £18,000 as a three-year-old and is a half-brother to staying chaser Jack Snipe. Showed some promise on hurdling debut here earlier this month, but shaped as though he might want further.

Horse silk
150/1
Filly by Oscar who is closely related to a couple of winners over hurdles. Bumper debut offered little and she needs to improve considerably.
16
Horse silk
12/1
Produced a very promising first effort in a soft-ground Chepstow bumper in the spring to one who was placed 4th in Grade 2 Aintree bumper. Not tried over hurdles yet but comes from a yard that have made a good start to the season; note any interest.

Verdict

This is by far the weaker of the two divisions, but unlike the first throws up a live contender with proven fitness. NATIVEGETAWAY represents the in form Tizzard yard and drops in class having contested a Class 2 event at Cheltenham recently. On that evidence the shorter trip here will be in his favour. Dual winning pointer Easyrun De Vassy fetched a six-figure sum having won two ordinary contests but has joined a top yard. Paxman achieved more between the flags on his sole start recording the fastest time of the day by 12 seconds. With his yard 1-45 in the past two weeks he may be one for the future.
  1. Nativegetaway
  2. Easyrun De Vassy
  3. Paxman
