Far from prolific these days winning just one of his last 31 races which was last season at York (1m2f) on soft ground. Best effort for a while latest when an unlucky sixth at Newbury (1m2f) and off the same mark he has each-way possibilities.

Off the mark for the campaign latest at the 12th time of asking in a 1m2f Sandown handicap. 5lb rise makes life tougher but plenty of positives with all ground coming alike and drop in trip no issue either so solid run likely.

Won at Lingfield (turf) when last tackling this trip but huge concerns after last race at Sandown where he almost refused and gave up the best part of a furlong when finally starting. Hard to back after that.

Previously only won over 6f but showed effectiveness over this trip with 50/1 Doncaster Spring Mile success early this season. Yet to get competitive in four starts since and now steps up in trip in search of improvement.

Landed a hat-trick last season and placed in three of her four this term too. Effective from 1m-1m2f but this trip may be optimum so has to be considered although handicapper keeps up the pressure and draw not ideal either.

Consistent sort was narrowly touched off when dropped to 1m1f at Newbury and then spotted finishing really strongly for third next at Sandown. This trip obviously suits well and for all handicap is rising he has excellent claims here.

Dual 1m winner this season seemed to stay 1m2f in only start beyond 1m. Only beaten 3L into fifth latest on stable debut and possibility that he might have needed that run so could very easily be involved here.

Six-time winner but never beyond 7f. Lone success in a busy campaign came seven starts back in a 7f Brighton handicap. Seemed to stay 1m in the past but not 1m2f in only race beyond that so trip has to be a concern.

Best two races of the season were his first two on heavy ground at Salisbury (1m2f) and Windsor (1m). Worn down latest when third over 1m at Sandown but that form should see him in a good light here and will relish any cut underfoot.

Won twice at Lingfield over 1m2f this season but three runs since most recent have been progressively worse culminating in a last of six at Brighton. Had a break since but returns needing a good bit more.

Forecasts

Master Carpenter (7/2), Secret Return (9/2), Abel Tasman (9/2), Zlatan (5/1), Oh It's Saucepot (11/2), Family Fortunes (8/1), Harlequin Striker (12/1), Ashazuri (18/1), High Acclaim (20/1), Man Of Harlech (25/1), Black Caesar (25/1)

Verdict

ABEL TASMAN has put in much improved efforts the last twice since dropping back from 1m4f and his latest rallying third up the hill at Sandown suggests that an extra 1f today could be ideal so he gets the nod with the considerable benefit of Ryan Moore onboard. Zlatan was a taking winner last time out at Sandown and this consistent sort should be heavily involved again. There are plenty of others with positives too and Oh It's Saucepot who is knocking at the door is certainly among them.
  1. Abel Tasman
  2. Zlatan
  3. Oh It's Saucepot
