Has failed to finish in two chase starts to date and needs to show significant improvement in this company.
Useful 133-rated hurdler winning four of his 17 starts over timber. Unseated rider on sole chase start in October when in the care of trainer Gordon Elliott. Could be of interest.
50/1 but still travelling well when coming down three out on chasing debut in May before being pulled up earlier this month at Limerick in a 2m2f beginners contest when the saddle slipped. Needs a change of luck.
Practical 139-rated hurdler winner of two of his eight starts over timber. Likable type and worth a market check.
Experience chaser who is without a win in six starts over fences. Well down the field in a couple of beginners contests since April and may find it tough going here.
Second of seven beaten ¾L on beginners chase debut in a Killarney 2m1f contest on good ground earlier this month. Likely to improve and one to consider.
Chaser with bags of experience but remains a 20-race maiden over the larger obstacles. Genuine sort but likely to struggle in this company.
Eight-race maiden over fences the gelding will be looking to build on a second of five beaten ½L behind Peace News at Wexford last month. Will need to improve once again here.
Distance winner who was beaten favourite earlier this month in a Killarney 2m1f beginners contest when pulled up following a bad mistake. Two-race maiden over fences the gelding will need to improve here.
Consistent 122-rated hurdler who won his maiden in a Ballinrobe 2m½f contest in May on good ground. Could be an exciting chase recruit.
Winner of two of his nine hurdle starts the Diamond Green gelding has more recently been seen on the Flat winning his latest start at the Curragh in May in a 2m handicap. Market likely to be the best guide on chasing bow.
Showed good attitude to win at Wexford in September with first-time tongue-tie seemingly helping his finishing effort. Fifth of 12 on chasing debut earlier this month the Galileo gelding needs to improve here with tongue-tie removed.
Five-race maiden over the larger obstacles and well down the field in novice company earlier in the year. Others look more convincing in this contest.
Modest 105-hurdler the gelding has largely been well held in six chase starts despite some of his finishing positions. Will need to improve to have a say here.
Winner of the Dovecote at Kempton in 2016 when in the hands of Alan King. Lightly raced since market may prove to be the best guide on stable debut.
Forecasts
St Stephens Green (3/1), Chateau Conti (4/1), Gangster (7/1), Morgan (7/1), Winter Escape (8/1), Gusty Rocky (8/1), Successor (9/1), Carrig Cathal (20/1), Niven (25/1), Lean And Keen (25/1), Veneziano Springs (25/1), The Irregular (25/1), Inis Meain (66/1), Ceide Fields (66/1), A Plein Temps (100/1)
The Henry De Bromhead-trained GANGSTER can get off the mark at the seventh time of asking here having finished runner-up on three occasion as well as a third place from six starts over the larger obstacles. The trainer has good record in the race winning on two occasions in the last six years including in last years renewal when Three Wise Men won when well backed. Chateau Conti, the Gordon Elliott-trained Morgan and Winter Escape are deserving of consideration.
- Gangster
- Morgan
- Winter Escape
