Once useful in this sphere, but better known as a hurdler/chaser these days, leaving Dan Skelton after a below-par fifth over fences at Uttoxeter last month. Starts out for new yard now, and others preferred.
Landed an AW hat-trick for Mark Johnston 18 months ago, but winless since, and no impact in five runs over hurdles for current stable. Blinkers tried now, but questions to answer.
Proving frustrating but consistent on the Flat, and as good as ever when runner-up for eighth consecutive occasion at Kempton last month behind Denmead. Easy to have reservations, but he ought to go close again.
Stepped up on reappearance run when beating Stormin Tom by a neck at Ripon (2m) last month, and probably best forgiven a rare below-par effort at Musselburgh since. Should bounce back, and one to consider.
Just one win since landing a Listed race here in 2015, but has run a couple of solid races here this season. Flopped here last time, but not helped by a wide draw, and place claims if back on song now.
Saves most of his best efforts for Ripon, and ran well when beaten a neck by On Fire there last month. Not disgraced at Carlisle last time, and front-running style should suit this track. Well drawn.
Winner of handicaps at Haydock and Wolverhampton last year, latter over 2m, and best recent effort when 2¾L third of 7 to Akamanto at Carlisle last time. Claims if he can settle better than he did there.
Forecasts
Master Archer (15/8), Stormin Tom (11/4), On Fire (7/2), Gabrial's King (11/2), Omotesando (14/1), Shelford (16/1), Isharah (50/1)
STORMIN TOM is best from the front, and is well drawn to go forward here, so makes plenty of appeal, and is taken to reverse last month's Ripon form with On Fire. Master Archer is frustrating to follow, but keeps running well on form, and could easily stretch his remarkable run of eight consecutive seconds.
