Faced a stiff task at Ascot on his seasonal reappearance earlier this month, but he was disappointing nevertheless. Likes his own way at the head of affairs and is a C&D winner, so this much smaller field is helpful.
Yet to win on turf, but races off a slightly lower mark than on the AW (three-time winner) as a result. Lost nothing in defeat when beaten just ½L by Tristram at Nottingham latest (1m6f gd/fm).
Back following wind surgery with success over this trip at Catterick last month, beating Kings Gold by 2¼L. Races from a 5lb higher mark tonight but remains unexposed after just nine starts and has proved himself at this track previously.
Fair performer in France who joined this trainer for €55,000 in July 2017. Disappointing so far (1m2f-2m), but falling steadily down the weights and should capitalise upon that fact eventually.
Best on a sound surface, but is yet to win over further than 1m. Inconclusive as to whether or not he stayed this trip on his sole try at Thirsk (latest), and the cheek-pieces are newly applied this evening.
On a fair mark, but that's mainly because he's failed to beat all that many rivals in eight starts since winning at Beverley in September 2016 (1m4f good to firm). Won over C&D in the past, but wind surgery as of yet has proved worthless.
Forecasts
New Society (7/4), Icefall (4/1), Alfred Richardson (4/1), Azam (9/2), Croquembouche (6/1), Dalshand (20/1)
Croquembouche will ensure this isn't a falsely run affair, and that will most likely find out the doubtful stayer Alfred Richardson. Azam is a hardy, in-form individual who should be competitive for Mick Appleby, but the recent Catterick winner NEW SOCIETY looks to have plenty of further improvement in him following his successful return from wind surgery.
