Irish contender, but has turned in two good efforts on these shores lately, his second to the useful Caid Du Lin at Fontwell (better grade than today) looking very solid. Slight concern drop back to a bare 2m might find him out, but has a chance.
Has a lot of ground to make up on Summer Storm on their Fontwell running, but may have needed that after an absence and should be fitter here. Yard struggling for any meaningful form though, which has to be a concern.
Falling very quickly in the handicap after some poor efforts, stopping very quickly at Stratford last time and tailed off. Switch back to hurdles here needs to have a major effect or he's little chance again.
Brought down early at Huntingdon last time out, but Kempton form of February when a close fourth in a decent handicap takes him close. Seems to like a tight track and with no issues on trip or ground, makes the shortlist.
Reverts to hurdles after finding it hard going over fences lately. Has some useful form to his name from last season (highly tried a couple of times) and trip and ground here both ideal. Not totally discounted from a fair mark.
Useful stayer on the Flat at best, and not disgraced in that sphere this autumn. Caught the eye staying on late last time and from a good looking opening handicap mark over hurdles here, looks a danger, despite reservations about the trip.
Improving with every run at present and did little wrong at Worcester last time, although did hang right a little under pressure. On a very fair mark on historical form and with no trip or ground issues, seems likely to take a hand in the finish.
A slight worry that she's only won one of her 15 starts to date, and was well beaten when a short priced favourite when last seen, but clearly has ability and is young enough to improve this year. Hard to weigh up, but not ruled out.
Would drop this lot at his best but some while since he's shown that, and a change of yard last season did nothing to turn his fortunes around either. Others make far more appeal.
Not the biggest in stature and has found it hard over hurdles to date, his form only modest and he was well beaten off a 3lb higher mark on handicap debut. Needs improvement from somewhere and is passed over today.
Originally with Sir Michael Stoute, joined current yard in May and has run with credit in both starts over hurdles so far. Interesting connections go down the handicap route so quickly, and this tight track should be ideal. One to keep an eye on.
No win in 16 starts, best at 1m2f on the Flat but some while since she's shown any meaningful form, although the hood used at Uttoxeter last time halted the slide to some extent. Needs to build on that if she's to get involved here.
Has been going nowhere fast for a while now, well beaten on most of his recent starts although switch back to hurdles may help today. Yard can land a gamble, so needs a market check at the very least.
Likes to hear his hooves rattle, so the quicker the ground the better. Only moderate and 4lb higher than last winning hurdles mark, but this track will play to his strengths and not discounted if fit (has won after a similar break in the past).
Forecasts
Alexander The Grey (4/1), Wind Place And Sho (6/1), Cashanova (6/1), Sir George Somers (6/1), Gin And Tonic (8/1), Summer Storm (10/1), Bright Tomorrow (10/1), Hallingham (12/1), Ritasun (14/1), Dizzey Heights (20/1), Chandos Belle (20/1), Owen Na View (33/1), Lambeau Field (33/1), Rathealy (100/1)
Nothing here has a solid profile, and a bit of caution is advised. SIR GEORGE SOMERS is one of the more interesting contenders, as he's bred to have a bit of speed and connections are wasting little time in getting him into handicaps. He may improve again and could take a wide open race. Lambeau Field gave fences a go but he's not really built for them and may be happier back over hurdles here. Wind Place And Sho looks nicely handicapped on Flat form and must be respected. Alexander The Grey could be one for placepots, but this really is a very open looking race.
- Sir George Somers
- Wind Place And Sho
- Lambeau Field
