Up only 3lb for a victory at Lingfield last time (6f, standard), which could prove to be a lenient increase for a horse who is seemingly quickly improving for a trainer enjoying a great run of form.
C&D winner at two but form quickly dropped off after that and he subsequently moved from John Gosden's yard. Has plenty to prove despite another new lowest mark yet.
Won a maiden for Joseph O'Brien but wasn't able to build on that and has since switched yards. Needs to put his recent efforts well behind him in some additional headgear, and isn't sure to have the pace for this trip.
Dual-winner last year but doesn't look well handicapped on the basis of his last run (which came over C&D), in addition to the fact he lacks a fitness edge over all his opponents.
Has put in some fair efforts so far this term without ever serious challenging a winner, though she is starting to get to a place where her handicap mark looks suitable. Needs to prove she handles the surface on her all-weather debut.
Steps back down to this trip following a series of recent runs over further, all of which have shown he has some promise. Doesn't seem short of speed so the lesser distance ought not to be a problem, though he is creeping up the handicap despite not winning.
Won at Chelmsford in April off a mark only 3lb lower than this (6f, standard), and has had excuses on two runs since (including when pulling far too hard when stepped up in trip last time). Capable of going close if things go his way this time.
Makes his handicap debut having run only moderately in maidens, and seems on an appropriate weight with that in mind. First time cheek pieces would need to have a fairly positive effect for him to be considered.
Makes her handicap debut having run a fair race in claiming company last time at a big price. This represents a different challenge, but she does seem to be slowly progressing.
No better when stepped up in trip for his third maiden last time having run poorly over 5f here on his previous start. Low enough opening handicap mark but needs to show more before being worthy of serious consideration.
Not beaten far on handicap debut over C&D last time at this course, and seemed to enjoy the drop down to this distance. Should have more to offer off the same mark.
Has run three races of little account in maidens so far, having been sent off 80/1, 100/1 and 200/1, and she has it all to prove on handicap debut.
Forecasts
Bruny Island (13/8), Debonaire David (9/4), See You Mush (13/2), The Amber Fort (7/1), New Tale (16/1), Whiteley (20/1), Yorkshire Rover (33/1), Texas Wedge (33/1), Justice Frederick (40/1), Chevalier du Lac (50/1), Digital Revolution (66/1), Tisa River (80/1)
Many of these are already looking like they're going to prove tough to win with in the long term, though perhaps SEE YOU MUSH can prove an exception to that. He has already won so far this season, off a mark only slightly lower than this, and despite not running well in the two races since (he had excuses both times), he remains a fair prospect in these sort of all-weather sprint handicaps going forward. Bruny Island isn't particularly helpfully handicapped but seems one of the more talented options from this group in general, while Digital Revolution is the pick of the handicap debutants.
- See You Mush
- Bruny Island
- Digital Revolution
