Has had a string of chances already in this sphere, placing in six of nine hurdles runs, but no sing of a breakthrough and hard to be enthusiastic about this quirky character despite first-time blinkers.
Getting the hang of things over hurdles, with steady improvement on each start, and recent second at Kilbeggan (2m, yielding) followed C&D runner-up finish with form working out nicely. Should break through soon.
Winner on the Flat at a modest level for Mick Halford when blinkers were applied for the first time, has struggled in all four maiden hurdles to date and others look much more likely.
One win from six starts on the Flat, came over 1m5f at Galway in July. First start over hurdles at Punchestown 15 days ago (2m1f, good) brought 15L defeat in eighth of 15. That was off a significant layoff and entitled to do much better now.
Fair sort on the Flat, was beaten 25L over 2m1f at Killarney last month on hurdles bow, could be the type to improve for that experience.
Has gone close on three of four starts over hurdles, most recently over this sort of trip at Musselburgh in February when just touched off by a rival that has since run respectably in Aintree Grade One novice event. Big chance on form with cheekpieces added now.
Two-time winner on the Flat for Eddie Lynam, has now joined the best in the business for a career over hurdles and commands plenty respect with the champion jockey on board.
Low grade on the Flat and was beaten over 80L on hurdling bow at Kilbeggan last month. This looks a tougher assignment on paper.
Not a lot to get excited about in three maiden hurdles so far, though best effort came on jumping over this C&D in April. Down in trip, would still need to improve on that run to be in the mix.
Beat 48L on rules over in similar event at Kilbeggan last month on good to yielding ground, has a fair amount of improvement to find for this.
No threat in a pair of soft ground maiden hurdles around the turn of the year, hopes for better in this rather resting on the ground. Looks best watched for now.
Filly was well beaten off over 2m3f (soft to heavy) at Limerick in April on rules/hurdling bow. Drops in trip now but doesn't appeal as a likely winner.
Failed to complete in either point-to-point run last month, has since joined this yard for rules debut and not much reason to recommend currently.
Beneficial filly was never a factor on debut at Punchestown last month, has a lot on her plate to improve enough to get involved in this.
Forecasts
Whiskey Sour (5/4), Papal Motel (10/3), Warp Factor (7/2), Leomar (7/1), Tarazani (8/1), The Moore Factor (25/1), Chubi Chekker (40/1), Lily Of Leysbourne (66/1), Mininus Miss Diva (66/1), Reddot Dancer (66/1), Scotch Quay (100/1), Breffni (100/1), Jeremys Hope (100/1), Mazies Dreaming (100/1)
WARP FACTOR has shown enough in four outings over timber so far to suggest he'll be up to landing a race like this now sporting cheekpieces for the first time. His form may already be good enough and there's every chance he has more to give. Papal Motel is another that looks set to break through sooner rather than later while two-time Flat winner Whiskey Sour is greatly respected for the champion trainer. The frustrating Leomar may hit the frame again with the likes of Tarazani and The Moore Factor also in that bracket.
- Warp Factor
- Whiskey Sour
- Papal Motel
