No win since December 2014 and hasn't really looked like winning on any of his recent starts. Top jockey up and now below that winning mark but still one to avoid.
C&D winner last year who ran creditably on his return at Newmarket during the Craven meeting to finish second when he may not have been entirely suited by the track. Goes off the same mark now in what could be an easier race and has leading claims.
Made a winning reappearance at Windsor last month having run some nice races throughout last year. More needed now up 4lb but should love the ground and this is definitely his trip.
Regressive last year having shown promise early on in his career and didn't seem to improve all that much for a new trainer at Ripon last time out. Best watched once again.
Has shot up the weights over the past couple of years showing plenty of improvement from his early races. Plenty of form over this trip (has placed over C&D), but with his two wins both having come on the all-weather there is a concern that he's better on a synthetic surface.
Won a decent conditions event at Dundalk two starts ago before running with some merit at Lingfield last time out. That form is below what would be required here but he could challenge for a place.
Clearly likes this course having won here twice and goes from the lowest draw but he was behind Normandy Barriere at Newmarket last time and will need more than a 2lb pull at the weights to overcome that.
Forecasts
Normandy Barriere (3/1), Mazzini (7/2), Moonraker (4/1), Venturous (6/1), Little Palaver (7/1), Watchable (7/1), Sign of The Kodiac (8/1)
It could be that NORMANDY BARRIERE needed the run when finishing second on his reappearance at Newmarket having been sent off favourite, or perhaps he didn't handle the Dip on his first appearance on the Rowley Mile. Either way, he should be able to build on that performance here off the same mark in what looks to be an easier race. He retains the services of William Buick and as a C&D winner there can be no concerns over the track this time. Little Palaver impressed at Windsor on his reappearance last month, meanwhile, and Sign of the Kodiac, while an unlikely winner, certainly has the form to finish in the top three.
