Placed in the second of his starts in bumpers, and was thrown in deep on each of his first two runs over hurdles at Newcastle in November 2016. Proved no match for Kimberlite Candy back at Gosforth Park prior to Christmas, but that was a step forward, and he holds every chance dropped back in trip on his return from a short break on this better ground.
Midfield finishes in two starts over hurdles so far and would appear to be the stables second string in this contest. Highly questionable given his pedigree as to whether this step up in trip will be suitable, and opposed on that factor alone.
Well regarded, but has been difficult to deal with at home and demonstrated this on his hurdles debut at Kelso in March 2016 when racing keenly into the first hurdle and crashing to the ground. However, he ran very well on his return at Sedgefield in early November 2016, looking the likely winner for the majority of that race. Absent since, but holds a chance having run well at this track in bumpers previously.
Appears to have gone in the wrong direction since running very well on his stable debut at Sedgefield on Boxing Day when second to Dubai Angel. Tries this longer trip for the first time, having been outclassed here over 2m behind Gaitway last month, and might appreciate this better ground.
Pulled up on two of his three starts over hurdles, with his best effort coming over this trip when third at Catterick (200/1) in late January. Others appeal as much likelier winners, but this maiden hurdle looks a more realistic level for now.
Debut bumper runner up at Perth in July 2016 who also finished placed (third) on hurdles debut at Kelso in December 2016 when outclassed by both Mount Mews and Sam Spinner. Not quite as effective since, albeit in novice contests where he held little chance, but has work to do with Dear Sire despite dropping into a more suitable maiden hurdle.
Point-to-Point winner (October 2016) who ran his best race over hurdles on his fifth start over the smaller obstacles when fourth of 20 in a 2m4f Fairyhouse handicap hurdle in January. This is a drop in grade, so worthy of inspection in the betting with leading rider booked.
Three time Flat winner from 24 starts for previous trainer Richard Hannon, and was rated as high as 112 in May 2015 (93 on final start in that sphere in September 2016). Makes his hurdle and stable debut on ground which should suit having been bought for 35,000 gns at Newmarket in October. Top rider booked.
Twice placed, albeit well held in low grade bumpers at Perth and Catterick and makes her hurdles debut at a realistic level, but others readily preferred.
Beaten just over 7L on her hurdles debut (2m) at this track in January, with the runner up Verona Opera successful at Ayr on Monday. Worth stepping her up in trip as she appeared short of pace at the business end, but possibly more of a handicap type for the future than a winner for today.
Nine race Flat maiden who has started at three figure odds on both hurdles runs to date, and whilst this is a weaker race, is still unlikely to be involved.
Forecasts
Ca Le Ferra (5/2), Dear Sire (4/1), Acdc (5/1), Windshear (11/2), Ramore Will (8/1), Sophie Olivia (14/1), Katalystic (14/1), River Icon (25/1), Bering Upsun (28/1), Devils Water (50/1), Bahrikate (150/1)
The jockey bookings of both Ramore Will and WINDSHEAR catch the eye. The former drops in grade after an improved effort in a Fairyhouse handicap, whilst the latter makes his hurdles and stable debut having left Richard Hannon for 35,000 gns. This track and ground should suit and it's no coincidence that he makes his debut here seeking a decent racing surface, with his class on the Flat most likely enough at this lowly level to make a winning start. Acdc can take another step forward and is a horse to keep an eye on for the future.
1. Windshear
2. Acdc
3. Ca Le Ferra
