Actually won his maiden on fibresand on his only run here but that was over 5f. Gradually stepped up in trip (second on the Queen's Vase over 2m at Royal Ascot) but fairly lightly raced since and not seen since running in the Northumberland Plate in June. Drops in grade here.
Five-time course winner although he's not be seen here since last January and he remains just above his last winning mark. Creditable fourth in a better race than this at Newcastle last time out in a race that wasn't run to suit and respected on his return to this surface.
Certainly knows his way around here having won seven times on the fibresand. Successful off a much higher mark (95) when winning at Chelmsford just over 12 months ago but below form last time and needs to bounce back here.
Never been out of the frame on the AW and has taken very well to the tapeta surface at Newcastle winning his last two starts there. Yet to encounter this surface, although his pedigree gives hope that he will act on it.
Has looked awkward in the past but things are starting to come together now and he comes here on a three-timer. Course record reads very well and his last win here showed him in good form when hacking up over C&D by seven lengths.
Six wins to his name around Southwell and another who comes here on a hat-trick after winning his last two races in claiming company. This is very much a stiffer grade and a step back into handicaps but given his effectiveness on this surface he has to be given a chance.
Won over 1m6f in December on the fibresand (course debut) but disappointed last time out at Chelmsford although may not have been seen to best effect. Can travel strongly but often slowly away and might have some quirks in his attitude.
Forecasts
L'Inganno Felice (15/8), Western Prince (7/2), Isharah (5/1), Tommy Docc (7/1), Tatting (7/1), Royal Marskell (14/1), Luv U Whatever (20/1)
The longest race on the card and there are some in-form types that go head-to-head here over the 1m4f trip. Tommy Docc is a horse who has run and won over a variety of trips and he has to be respected dropping in class here on a track which he has already won on. Isharah, Tatting and L’INGANNO FELICE all won last time out with the latter two scoring over this course. Isharah has been in fine form of late but this surface is a bit of an unknown for him although on pedigree he should act on it. Tatting will handle this surface but has a tougher task than when running in claimers of late and it’s the ever improving L’Inganno Felice who gets the vote here after he won in impressive fashion last time out and he bids to complete a hat-trick here.
1. L'inganno Felice
2. Isharah
3. Tommy Docc
