The 'Heinz' bet includes 57 bets across six selections and takes its name from the food company Heinz, which promised 57 varieties of pickle in a famous advertising campaign dating back to 1896. The Heinz bet is a multiple made up of 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-fold accumulators, six five-fold accumulators and one six-fold accumulator.
As it is made up of 57 bets, your staking figure will be multiplied by 57 making it an expensive bet to place for many people. If you were to place a £2 Heinz bet your total stake would be £114.
With many of the mulitple bets you will see in our betting guide, the Heinz offers a level of reassurance to you as you do not require all the selections to win to get a return but you do still have the possibility of a large return should all the selections win. Nonetheless it is worth noting making a profit from such a complex bet is difficult as you will probably need three or more winning selections (depending on the odds of the selections).
Bettors can place Heinz bets in many different sports, but they are most common in those where numerous events are held on a single day or weekend: for example, greyhound racing, football and horse racing. The bettor must pick their six selections across six different events.
Under the terms of a Heinz bet, the bettor makes six selections and 57 different bets. These bets are:
Though this does not cover every eventuality, as there are no single bets, so if only one of the selections wins, the bettor will not get a return. But it does cover a high number of them, so a return of some kind is not improbable, unless every selection is a wild outsider.

When placing multiples like a Heinz, you can quickly see how the number of winning bets increases with the number of winning selections. Take a look at the breakdown below of the number of bets you win per selection:
One winning selection = no return as there are no single bets in a Heinz.
Two winning selections = one winning double.
Three winning selections = three winning doubles and one winning treble.
Four winning selections = six winning doubles, four winning doubles and a winning four-fold accumulator.
Five winning selections = 10 winning doubles, 10 winning trebles, five winning four-fold accumulators and a winning five fold accumulator.
Six winning selections = 15 winning doubles, 20 winning trebles, 15 winning four-fold accumulators, sixe winning five-fold accumulators and a winning six-fold accumulator.
A Lucky 15 is a form of multiple bet and there are a lot of different types of multiple that will involve difference combinations of bets and selections.
