The 'Canadian' bet, which is sometimes referred to as a Super Yankee, is a large multiple that has five selections and a total of 26 individual bets. It has a similar makeup to a Yankee or Lucky 15 but has five selections instead of four.
A Canadian is made up of:
- 10 doubles
- 20 trebles
- Five four-fold accumulators
- One five-fold accumulator
This means that a Canadian bet can be complex to think through and place, especially for novices. If you are considering placing a Canadian bet it is worth giving yourself enough time to think through how all the betting components work together to see if it is worthwhile. If you rush placing one you could end up with a return of less than your initial stake if just one of the selections loses, this is because the stake is multiplied by 26 when placing it.
Canadian Bet Example
While Canadian bets are available on most sports, we will use football as our example. Lets say you want to use the below selections to make up your Canadian:
- Manchester City to beat Everton
- Newcastle to beat Brighton
- Fulham to beat Bournemouth
- Tottenham to beat Crystal Palace
- Arsenal to beat Chelsea

From these five selections, 26 multiple bets, across several different bet types would be made. The below is a full breakdown of all the bets that would be placed:
There would be 10 double bets, 10 treble bets, five four-fold accumulators and one five-fold accumulator. This can be represented as the below:
- 10 doubles:
- 1) Manchester City and Newcastle to win
- 2) Manchester City and Fulham to win
- 3) Manchester City and Tottenham to win
- 4) Manchester City and Arsenal to win
- 5) Newcastle and Fulham to win
- 6) Newcastle and Tottenham to win
- 7) Newcastle and Arsenal to win
- 8) Fulham and Tottenham to win
- 9) Fulham and Arsenal to win
- 10) Tottenham and Arsenal to win
- 10 trebles:
- 1) Manchester City, Newcastle and Fulham to win
- 2) Manchester City, Newcastle and Tottenham to win
- 3) Manchester City, Newcastle and Arsenal to win
- 4) Manchester City, Fulham and Tottenham to win
- 5) Manchester City, Fulham and Arsenal to win
- 6) Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal to win
- 7) Newcastle, Fulham and Tottenham to win
- 8) Newcastle, Fulham and Arsenal to win
- 9) Newcastle, Tottenham and Arsenal to win
- 10) Fulham, Tottenham and Arsenal to win
- Five four-fold accumulators
- 1) Manchester City, Newcastle, Fulham and Tottenham to win
- 2) Manchester City, Newcastle, Fulham and Arsenal to win
- 3) Manchester City, Newcastle, Tottenham and Arsenal to win
- 4) Manchester City, Fulham, Tottenham and Arsenal to win
- 5) Newcastle, Fulham, Tottenham and Arsenal to win
- One five-fold accumulator
- 1) Manchester City, Newcastle, Fulham, Tottenham and Arsenal to win
In this scenario, the bettor would win if any of these bets came in, but the amount they made would change depending on which bet won. While you would get a return if just two selections won, because of the size of the bet to make a profit you probably need 3 or more to come in (depending on the odds of the selections).
As there are so many bets being made, the bettor would have to put down quite a large overall stake. In a Canadian bet, if for example a £2 unit stake per leg were being staked, the bettor would be placing a bet worth £52 in total. If it was a £10 unit stake per leg, the bettor would be placing a bet of £260 overall
