Manchester City 2-5 Leicester match report & highlights: Jamie Vardy scores hat-trick as Foxes put five past Pep Guardiola's side

Jamie Vardy bagged a hat-trick and Leicester scored three penalties as Leicester stunned Manchester City 5-2 in a remarkable game at the Etihad.

It's the first time in Pep Guardiola's 686 games as a manager that one of his sides has conceded five goals, while Vardy's hat-trick was his second against Guardiola's City.

Only one other player has scored a hat-trick against a Guardiola side, and that being a certain Lionel Messi.

Leicester now find themselves on top of the early Premier League table after three wins from three - the first time ever in their history that they've won the first three games of a top flight season.

It's 17 years since City conceded five goals at home in the Premier League, and it's a worrying result and performance for Guardiola as a slow start to last season cost them the title. Liverpool led by eight points after eight games last season and never looked back.

Jurgen Klopp's side take on Arsenal on Monday night and will be boosted by watching their big title rivals suffer such a damaging early setback.

It looked like business as usual as Man City dominated the early exchanges after Riyad Mahrez rifled them into a fourth-minute lead, but once Vardy had equalised from the spot it all went south for Guardiola's side.

Vardy flicked in a brilliant second nine minutes into the second half, before winning and scoring his second penalty of the game to seal his hat-trick four minutes later.

Substitute James Maddison then curled in a magnificent fourth before Nathan Ake reduced the arrears with an 84th-minute header. Just four minutes later though and the hosts conceded a third sloppy penalty to allow Youri Tielemens to add the finishing touch to a fantastic victory.
