Premier League summer transfers 2019/20: The best signings done during the transfer window and on deadline day

We look at the summer signings worth watching in the new Premier League season, after all the wheeling and dealing was completed on deadline day.

France midfielder Ndombele became Spurs' first major purchase since January 2018 when he arrived from Lyon for a club-record fee.

Costing a reported £53.8million, big things are expected of the 22-year-old. He has signed a six-year contract and is targeting trophies with the London club as they look forward to a first full season in their new stadium and attempt to build on a maiden Champions League final appearance.

Christian Pulisic (Chelsea)

With Chelsea awaiting the outcome of a transfer ban appeal, new boss Frank Lampard could have his hands tied in the transfer market.

However, their ranks will be boosted by the arrival of United States international Pulisic, who was signed from Borussia Dortmund for £58million in January before being loaned back to the Bundesliga club.

The 20-year-old winger should inject attacking creativity as the club look to cope with the departure of Eden Hazard.

Rodri (Manchester City)

After securing successive titles, Manchester City are not resting on their laurels.

The £62.8million capture of holding midfielder Rodri, 23, from Atletico Madrid is a clear statement of intent from the champions.

The towering Spain international, who has been compared to Barcelona's Sergio Busquets, believes he will be working for the "greatest coach in the world" and will compete to become the long-term replacement for 34-year-old Fernandinho.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United)

The most expensive uncapped British player of all time, Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed a rapid rise to join the 20-time English champions.

United invested an initial £45million to prise the England Under-21 international from Crystal Palace. The right-back only made his senior debut in February 2018 but United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is excited by the player's potential as he attempts to bring success back to Old Trafford.

Perez finished last season with eight Premier League goals in nine games, prompting the 2016 champions to pay Newcastle £30million for his services.

His arrival ended Brendan Rodgers' search for a versatile forward and provides Foxes fans with the mouthwatering prospect of watching him link up with Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and club-record signing Youri Tielemans, whose loan switch from Monaco was made permanent four days after Perez's arrival.

Joelinton (Newcastle)

Newcastle broke their transfer record for the second time in a year to sign Brazilian striker Joelinton from Hoffenheim for a reported £40million.

After the departure of forwards Joselu and Perez, new boss Steve Bruce will be hoping for goals from the 22-year-old. Joelinton scored 11 times in 35 appearances last season and could be the key to Newcastle's attack.

Dani Ceballos (Arsenal)

A highly regarded Real Madrid player, Ceballos decided to join Arsenal over rival Premier League clubs, on a season-long loan from the Bernabeu.

The 22-year-old has represented Spain and made 23 LaLiga appearances last season for Real, and said his decision was made by a desire to work with Unai Emery. Arsenal will be hoping their second signing of the summer boosts their challenge for a top-four place.

Moise Kean (Everton)

Everton pulled off a transfer coup to sign one of the most talked about teen stars in world football.

Moise Kean arrived from Juventus for a reported £27.5million fee, which could be seen as a snip in the modern-day market.

The 19-year-old has scored two goals in three Italy appearances, scoring eight and assisting one in 21 appearances for Juve. He could be seen as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who left for Man United two years ago.

Kean has been touted as an each-way bet by Tom Carnduff in his Golden Boot selections for 2019/20.

Harry Maguire (Manchester United)

Manchester United have been crying out for a leader and a centre back - and in Harry Maguire they may have secured both in one.

The England international completed an £80million transfer to Old Trafford on Monday to become the most expensive defender ever.

His price tag may have been questioned, but he should make United stronger as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to guide them back to the top four.

Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal)

Arsenal smashed their transfer record to sign Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe from Lille.

He cost a reported £72million (paid in instalments) and should add extra width and intent to what is already a formidable Gunners attack with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

He scored 23 goals and assisted 12 in 41 appearances for French side Lille last season and chose north London over interest from Napoli as Arsenal opted for Pepe over Wilfried Zaha.

Patrick Cutrone (Wolves)

Italy striker Patrick Cutrone joined top-six hopefuls Wolves from AC Milan for £16million and it could prove to be a great bit of business.

The 21-year-old scored 27 goals in 90 appearances for the Rossoneri and adds more competition to an exciting and talented squad.

Deadline Day signings

Kieran Tierney

Arsenal's hectic summer continued as Kieran Tierney joined from Celtic in the closing moments of the window. The 22-year-old left-back had been trailed by Arsenal all summer and moves south for a fee reported to be £25million - a record for a Scotland international. With 12 Scotland caps and over 150 Celtic appearances under his belt, Tierney has the experience to slot straight into the Arsenal back four once back to full fitness - an area the Gunners addressed further with the even later signing of David Luiz.

Ryan Sessegnon

Tottenham matched Arsenal's endeavour across north London with a double swoop for Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso. Teenager Sessegnon, signed on a six-year deal from Fulham, is a player Spurs have tracked for some time and he will bring energy down the left flank. Lo Celso is also an exciting loan addition from Real Betis and makes up for Spurs missing out on Juventus striker Paulo Dybala.

Andy Carroll

Eight and a half years after his record-breaking £35million move to Liverpool, Carroll is back in his native Newcastle and no doubt hoping this deal provides much more than sentimental value. The former England striker was released by West Ham at the end of last season and has signed an initial one-year contract. Whether he can be as successful as he was during his first spell on Tyneside depends on putting a miserable run of injuries behind him. If he does, this could be some story.

Aaron Mooy

Brighton boss Graham Potter was determined to bring some creativity to his new side and settled upon Huddersfield playmaker Mooy. The deal to bring the 28-year-old Australian to the south coast might only be a season-long loan, but it could prove a masterstroke with Brighton in need of more invention in the final third. Mooy was key to Huddersfield winning promotion to the Premier League in 2017, and scored seven goals in 65 top-flight appearances before the Terriers were relegated in May.

Danny Drinkwater

The England midfielder's big-money Chelsea move soon turned sour and the 29-year-old made only five Premier League starts after switching to Stamford Bridge in a £35million deal in August 2017. But Burnley will have a serious upgrade in their midfield should Drinkwater, who has signed a short-term contract until the start of January, find the form which made him key to Leicester's Premier League title success in 2016.
