Premier League Request-A-Bets: Goals, cards and corner statistics

We take a look at some of the potential weekend wagers in relation to the cards, corners and goals count, as we head into matchday 22.

With the festive football finished and four scintillating months of Premier League action to go, we take the time to brush up on the key stats regarding the 20 Premier League clubs.

Certain teams are demonstrating particular trends from the various fields, and Sporting Life's Billy Lumsden jumps into the market to unveil his best bets for this weekend's football.

  • Liverpool have earned 38 corners in their last five Premier League matches, including 10 or more in three of those. Jurgen Klopp’s side have racked up 132 corners this season, only bettered by Manchester City, and face a Brighton team who have conceded 16 corners in their last three, with 15 of those coming in two fixtures. There is scope for a heavy corner count for Liverpool, who will be itching to return to winning ways after seeing their unbeaten run come to an end at the Etihad. They will see a lot of the ball in this match so a high corner tally for the visitors would be a worthy consideration.
👊 Best Bet- Liverpool 8+ corners: 13/8 with Sky Bet
  • Manchester United have averaged two bookings in their last eight Premier League games, receiving 16 in total, as well as a red card in that time. Tottenham have only accumulated eight in their last seven, which gives reason to believe they may be disciplined in this important encounter on Sunday. In their last four matches against ‘big six’ sides, Mauricio Pochettino’s team have earned one red and five yellow cards, meaning that booking points could be an avenue to venture down. The last time these two sides met saw Spurs obtain three bookings in comparison to Man Utd’s two.
👊 Best Bet- Antonio Valencia and Nemanja Matic both to be carded: 8/1
  • Watford have picked up their form recently with just the solitary defeat in their last six Premier League outings (W2, D3), which came against Chelsea. In this time, Javi Gracia’s side have notched 12 goals, averaging two per game, and travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace, where at least one team has failed to score in eight of their last 11 fixtures in all competitions. Due to Palace’s inconsistent form and Watford’s upturn of late, a Watford win with the following may be worth having a look at.
👊 Best Bet- Watford to win and under 2.5 goals: 5/1 Watford to win to nil: 9/2
  • Leicester City have enjoyed a good run of form, too, registering three wins from their last four which have included away successes at Chelsea and Everton, while also seeing off Premier League champions Manchester City. In this time, the Foxes have only conceded two goals, climbing up the table to seventh. Southampton are the visitors at the weekend and are winless in three, though they did earn a surprise point at Stamford Bridge in their last outing. In Leicester’s last three victories, they have been drawing at half-time and ended up with the three points at the final whistle, which could repeat itself in this fixture.
    👊 Best Bet- Half-Time/Full-Time – Draw/Leicester: 7/2 with Sky Bet

Other potential picks:

  • West Ham v Arsenal
👊 Best Bet- Marko Arnautovic to score anytime: 6/4
  • Burnley v Fulham
👊 Best Bet- Draw and under 2.5 goals: 5/2
  • Cardiff v Huddersfield
    👊 Best Bet- 2-0 at half-time: 12/1
  • Chelsea v Newcastle
👊 Best Bet- Eden Hazard and Salomon Rondon to score: 11/2
  • Everton v Bournemouth
👊 Best Bet- Bournemouth double chance: Evens
  • Manchester City v Wolves
👊 Best Bet- Manchester City and over 4.5 goals: 9/4
