Real Madrid sign Brazilian 16-year-old Vinicius Junior for around £38 million

Real Madrid have confirmed they have reached a deal to sign highly-rated Brazilian teenager Vinicius Junior from Flamengo.

The newly-crowned LaLiga champions will own the 16-year-old forward from next summer but he will provisionally remain at Flamengo until 2019 before moving to Spain.

No transfer fee has been announced but Vinicius Junior - who has been linked with many of Europe's biggest clubs - last week signed a new contract with Flamengo that included an increased buy-out clause for foreign clubs of between 30 and 45million euros (26 and £39million).

A Madrid statement read: "Real Madrid and Flamengo have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of the federative rights of the player Vinicius Junior from July 2018.

"The player will remain at his current club until July 2019, although he will be able to play for Real Madrid before then if both clubs agree to it."

Vinicius Junior, a Brazil Under-17 international, made his Flamengo debut during the 1-1 draw with Atletico Mineiro earlier this month in the opening round of the new Brazilian season.
