Premier League round-up: Crystal Palace, Brighton and Fulham all win

There were plenty of goals in Tuesday's Premier League action, as Crystal Palace, Fulham and Brighton all won.

Crystal Palace 4-1 Aston Villa

Ismaila Sarr scored twice as Crystal Palace’s sensational second half of the Premier League season continued with a 4-1 win over Aston Villa.

The Eagles made it five wins in seven as they built off Saturday’s victory at Fulham with Sarr’s double – on his 27th birthday – Jean-Philippe Mateta’s 12th league goal of the season and Eddie Nketiah’s late strike.

Morgan Rogers put in a stellar performance for Villa but his goal was not enough as Unai Emery’s men failed to build on their dramatic 2-1 fightback over Chelsea at the weekend.

Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

Danny Welbeck made an instant impact from the bench as Brighton registered a third-successive Premier League win by beating fellow European hopefuls Bournemouth 2-1.

With both sides dreaming of qualifying for continental football next season, substitute Welbeck rolled home a 75th-minute winner, having just come on in place of Joao Pedro.

Pedro won and converted an early penalty to put the Seagulls in front at the Amex Stadium before Justin Kluivert rifled home a thunderous, second-half leveller for the Cherries.

Brighton’s victory, which followed emphatic successes against Chelsea and rock-bottom Southampton, lifts to them eighth place on 43 points, below their opponents only on goal difference.

Defeat for Andoni Iraola’s visitors was a second in succession and ended their seven-game unbeaten away run dating back to early November.

Wolves 1-2 Fulham

Wolves missed the chance to move further away from the Premier League relegation zone after Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Muniz struck to give Fulham a 2-1 victory at Molineux.

Vitor Pereira’s side remain five points ahead of the bottom three but Ipswich and Leicester could cut that advantage later this week.

Fulham boss Marco Silva made five changes and Sessegnon vindicated the decision to start him when he gave his side the lead in the first minute.

Wanderers responded and Joao Gomes came back to haunt the Cottagers 17 minutes later as he netted for the first time in the league since their 4-1 victory in the return fixture back in November.

Fulham caught their opponents cold at the start of the half for a second time courtesy of Muniz’s fifth goal of the season with a clever chip and Wolves were unable to respond as the Cottagers boosted their own hopes of Europe next season.
