Paul Pogba: Roy Keane says World Cup winner will leave Manchester United after being on the bench during Anfield defeat

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane thinks Paul Pogba will be leaving Old Trafford in the summer after he was left on the bench during the club’s 3-1 defeat against Liverpool.

Pogba and Mourinho’s relationship has been the subject of intense scrutiny for most of the season, and Keane believes the fact the World Cup winner was left on the bench during such a huge game speaks volumes.

Keane told Sky Sports: "Paul Pogba's days are numbered, they won't sell him in January but he'll move on.

"It's no big deal, he's left United before."

Mourinho looked to have smoothed the waters between the two by making Pogba captain earlier in the season, but he then took back the armband and Keane thinks that could have been the final straw.

“He's a talented player but whatever is going on in his head, he obviously seems to be letting the manager down,” Keane added.

“The manager has brought him into the club, made him captain earlier in the season.

“We don't see what Pogba is like on the training pitch when they're travelling to matches but if the guy isn't pulling his weight, it doesn't matter who you are, he deserves to be left out.

“I think Mourinho has got to be brave on that side of it - which he is. People say Mourinho doesn't do enough to get people on side but maybe that was a nice touch to say, listen, there's obviously something amiss here, I'll make you the captain.

“It seems Pogba has thrown it back in his face. Jose has taken (the armband) back off him and he's probably lost the player with that decision.”
