Pick of the Sky Bet League Two fixtures for the new season

We select the pick of the Sky Bet League Two fixtures for the new season, with details of the full list for key dates.

Pick of the fixtures

Saturday September 16: Lincoln City v Mansfield Town

Mansfield Town have been priced up by Sky Bet as the favourites to finish the season as League Two champions after manager Steve Evans started the summer with a hectic recruitment drive. Peterborough forward Lee Angol is one of the new signings for the Stags and he ended the 2016/17 campaign by helping Lincoln City to Vanarama National League title glory. The Imps have now returned to the EFL and they are rated by Sky Bet as likely promotion contenders. There is also less than 30 miles between the two clubs so expect a big crowd for this game.

Saturday September 16: Crawley Town v Notts County

Harry Kewell and Kevin Nolan have both created plenty of memorable moments in the Premier League but the pair will be meeting as rival Sky Bet League Two managers this season. Kewell has taken charge of Crawley Town in a surprise move for the ex-Leeds and Liverpool midfielder and it looks like a tough assignment for his first taste of management. Kevin Nolan led Notts County to safety at the end of last term and the former Bolton and Newcastle skipper must be confident of an improved showing from the Magpies over the coming months.

Tuesday September 26: Swindon Town v Coventry City

Two former Premier League clubs dropped out of Sky Bet League One last season and both Swindon Town and Coventry City will be hoping for better things in the fourth tier of English football. Swindon are now under the management of former Bury boss David Flitcroft and he looks to be a sensible appointment with experience of leading a side to promotion from Sky Bet League Two. Coventry's Checkatrade Trophy victory provided the highlight of an otherwise miserable campaign but the Sky Blues start this term high up in the promotion odds. Two former Premier League clubs in Portsmouth and Blackpool went up last season so there is hope for the Robins and Sky Blues.

Saturday November 25: Forest Green Rovers v Cheltenham Town

Forest Green Rovers are in the Sky Bet EFL for the first time and they will be looking forward to a Gloucestershire derby against Cheltenham Town as one of their standout fixtures. The two sides went head-to-head for the Vanarama National League title the season before last and there isn't much that the pair like about each other. Both of these clubs sit in the middle of Sky Bet's outright prices for the new season but Forest Green in particular looked primed to spring a surprise.

Saturday October 7: Carlisle United v Exeter City

It was only back in May when Exeter City and Carlisle United met in a cracking Sky Bet League Two play-off semi-final. Exeter got the better of Carlisle 6-5 on aggregate at the end of an incredible two matches of action but promotion wasn't to be for the Grecians as they lost 2-1 to Blackpool at Wembley. That means Exeter remain with the Cumbrians in Sky Bet League Two this term and the goals will surely flow when these sides meet again.

Sky Bet League Two odds

Mansfield are warm 5/1 favourites to top the League Two table, and 5/4 to go up by any means. There are plenty of teams massed behind them, though, and with four-place each-way terms there is likely to be value down the list. Lincoln and Luton are both 9/1, with Coventry 10s, Swindon 12/1 and six teams listed at 16/1 for the title.
