Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is confident of extending Dean Henderson's loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.
His current deal expires on June 30, with the deadline for agreeing any extension June 22.
The 23-year-old is in his second season on loan at Bramall Lane, and his performances have been crucial in the newly-promoted Blades' surprise challenge for European qualification.
Despite a goalless draw at Aston Villa and 3-0 defeat by Newcastle in their two matches since the restart, Sheffield United still sit seventh and only two points behind Henderson's parent club.
The Blades face Man United on Wednesday and the keeper would be unavailable to face his employers even if an extension was agreed, with either Simon Moore or Michael Verrips set to play instead.
Wilder has spoken to Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about keeping Henderson until the current season end date of July 26.
"I believe it's now just administration with the two clubs," Wilder explained. "I had a chat with Ole and he was fine with extending Dean's loan until the end of the season.
"Hopefully, that will get signed off before the deadline. I appreciate Ole's help on that one. Dean has been great for us and we have been great for Dean."
