Sean Dyche is challenging for favouritism in the next Leicester manager market after a gamble about the Burnley boss’ future.
The 46-year-old was linked with the vacancy at the King Power Stadium, created by Craig Shakespeare’s sacking earlier this week, in Thursday morning’s papers and the money has flowed ever since.
He was cut from 6/1 to 5/2 by Sky Bet during the day and by mid-afternoon he was only half a point behind Chris Coleman in the market, the current Wales manager being a 2/1 shot.
Sam Allardyce was the only other contender at a single-figure price - the former England boss being an 8/1 chance.
Dyche’s odds have also plummeted in the Premier League ‘sack race’ market with the former Chesterfield and Watford defender cut from 5/1 to 3/1 leaving him behind only odds-on favourite Ronald Koeman, of Everton, who on Wednesday said he had his club board’s “full support”.
Speaking about a potential move on Thursday afternoon, Dyche said: "It’s all hypothetical. There’s no angle other than me focusing on Burnley. Only two things can happen to a manager, you move for a good reason or people get bored with you or lose, and then you’re out.
“It’s out of my hands. It’s a show of respect that we’re doing some good.”
Burnley currently sit seventh in the Premier League table with 13 points from their first eight games. Leicester are in the relegation zone with just six points collected so far.
The Clarets, who have already won at champions Chelsea this season, head to Manchester City on Saturday, a game they are a massive 22/1 to win. Leicester head to Swansea on the same day.
Burnley are currently 7/2 to be relegated, a market in which 2015/16 champions Leicester are 8/1 shots.
Odds correct at 1525 BST on 19/10/17.
