Two goals from Chris Wood and an Ashley Barnes penalty gave Burnley a crucial 3-1 win at Brighton to move up into 15th place in the Premier League table.
The Clarets had started the game in the bottom three after Cardiff's win earlier, but they jumped back above the Welsh side and moved up into 15th, just one place and seven goals behind Saturday's hosts Brighton.
Wood scored a goal in each half at the Amex as the Seagulls suffered a rare home defeat, before Barnes converted a penalty to mean that even Shane Duffy's header wasn't enough.
Burnley hit the woodwork twice in quick succession early on, before Tom Heaton was forced into a fine save at the other end.
Wood capitalised on his goalkeeper's stop by opening the scoring after being played in by Barnes.
Brighton piled on the pressure as the first period came to a close, with Jeff Hendrick clearing off the line and Heaton again called into action, but it was the visitors who went into the break with the lead.
Wood added his second on the break before Barnes was brought down inside the area and referee Stuart Atwell pointed to the spot - to the dismay of the home fans who felt they should have had a penalty down the other end just seconds earlier.
The Austrian forward stepped up to make it 3-0 and with just 15 minutes to play, seemingly put an end to Burnley's run of four games without a win.
The Seagulls pulled one back through Duffy's header 14 minutes from the end but Burnley held out to grab three valuable points to move up into 15th place - level with Brighton.
