Champions League draw: Liverpool come up against Manchester City in quarter-final


It's an all-English clash in the quarter-final of the Champions League as Manchester City were drawn against Premier League rivals Liverpool.

This stage was the first in which teams from the same country could be drawn against each other, with the mouth-watering tie between two of England's elite sides the highlight of this round.

Pep Guardiola's City side progressed after a 5-2 aggregate victory over FC Basel, a tie won with a 4-0 hammering in Switzerland.

Liverpool also had a comfortable route through to this stage as they beat Porto 5-0 in Portugal before being held to a 0-0 draw on Merseyside.

They are the only two English sides in this stage of the competition after Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham all crashed out in the last round.

Elsewhere, FC Barcelona, who were joint second-favourites ahead of the draw, will come up against AS Roma.

  • Sevilla v Bayern Munich

Juventus host Real Madrid after knocking out Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham side at Wembley. Sevilla take on German giants Bayern Munich in the other tie.

All games are scheduled to be played on April 3/4 and April 10/11. Anfield will host the first leg before the return tie at the Etihad Stadium a week later.
