ZAINY CHAMP – 14.10 Exeter (NAP)
It could be worth taking a chance on Jeremy Scott’s ZAINY CHAMP on chasing debut in the Klargester Handicap Chase at Exeter on Friday. The seven-year-old has reserved all of his best performances for this track and his win here over hurdles in December a career-best effort. Scott has won this race the past two years and with this horse bred for a fence he can go well first time up in a chase.
PLATIN MOON – 15.50 Ayr
PLATIN MOON can go in again at Ayr in the Weatherbys Racing Bank Handicap Hurdle over two miles. The five-year-old won over the course and distance two starts ago when he and the runner-up, subsequent Carlisle He’s Bresilian, pulled 10 lengths clear of the third. That looks good form in the context of this race and another bold bid is expected from the front end.
FALCO DES PINS – 16.30 Leicester
FALCO DES PINS is getting to grips with chasing after three starts in the sphere and he can go in again in the Royal Lancers Handicap Chase at Leicester. Venetia Williams’ horse put in his best performance for the yard when winning at Ludlow last time out, doing it the hard way from the front end. A 6lb rise doesn’t look beyond him in this company.
CHUZZLEWIT – 18.30 Newcastle
If he gets the breaks CHUZZLEWIT might just stay on to good effect in division II of the BetMGM Supports Safer Gambling Handicap at Newcastle. Used to racing over a mile, the drop to seven here looks worth trying off a career-low mark at a track he likes. He’s entitled to come on for his reappearance last time where he ran okay in fourth after seven months off and if he does he’ll be right in the mix.
Saturday selections
SCORPIO RISING - 13:50 Sandown (NAP)
A competitive renewal of the EBF Final as ever but the rapidly improving SCORPIO RISING is fancied to complete a four-timer.
A winner at Perth and Lingfield, he followed up at Windsor last time, showing a fine turn of foot to come from a poor position to beat Top Jimmy. He’s up seven pounds but looks a horse to follow while on this roll.
KEEP ON COBBLING - 14:47 Ayr
Henry Daly has his team in fine form right now and KEEP ON COBBLING can add to the list of recent winners.
Successful at Stratford and Sedgefield earlier in the year, she disappointed from this revised mark at Hereford in November, but has been freshened up since. The six-year-old goes back up in trip which will suit and should be right in the mix in this company.
HEY FLINT - 15:25 Hereford
She’s been brought along with handicaps in mind and it would be no surprise to see HEY FLINT take a big step forward switched to the sphere for the first time.
Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies’ charge has been sent off a triple-figure price on her last three starts and has hinted at ability, and the need to go up in trip. She gets that on Saturday in a weak contest.
ARCADIAN HEIGHTS - 17:35 Wolverhampton
He won this race last season and from only a pound higher mark ARCADIAN HEIGHTS makes plenty of appeal.
Billy Loughnane’s mount arrives in good form have finished a close-up fourth behind Wyld Bill at Lingfield and will sit handy in what will be a weakly-run contest.
ELEMENTS OF FIRE - 18:30 Chelmsford
He’s low mileage and in very good hands and ELEMENTS OF FIRE is fancied to make a winning handicap debut.
The four-year-old made a winning start for Archie Watson at Lingfield last month, making all in a three-runner field. He’s drawn to attack from one again and an opening mark of 87 looks fair, especially with the potential of more to come.
