£50,000 Sporting Life Pick 7 won again thanks to Un De Sceaux at Ascot

Rob Manning is £50,000 richer after becoming the latest person to land the free-to-play Sporting Life Pick 7 after favourable results for punters at Ascot and Haydock on Saturday.

The winners of the Pick 7 races were:

  • Leg 1 – 1.50 Ascot, La Bague Au Roi 8/11 favourite
  • Leg 2 – 2.05 Haydock, First Flow 9/4 favourite
  • Leg 3 – 2.25 Ascot, Jenkins 5/1
  • Leg 4 – 2.40 Haydock, The New One Evens favourite
  • Leg 5 – 3.00 Ascot, Acting Lass 7/4 favourite
  • Leg 6 – 3.15 Haydock, The Dutchman 13/2
  • Leg 7 – 3.35 Ascot, Un De Sceaux 4/9 favourite

That meant a total of 26 players got all seven winners, but it was Manning who got closest to the tie-breaker: the winning distance in Leg 1.

La Bague Au Roi’s 16-length romp proved crucial in the game, then, and Sporting Life spokesman Michael Shinners was not surprised the jackpot was won on Clarence House Chase day.

He said: "Well done to Rob Manning who has collected a lovely £50,000 prize early in the year all thanks to a couple of old favourites.

"When The New One went in and so many people were left in the competition I knew it was highly likely to be won and Un De Sceaux’s super victory sealed things.

"Only Speredek or San Benedeto could’ve saved us paying out in the final leg and, though the former went a good few lengths clear at one point and ran a cracking race, Un De Sceaux was always in cruise control."

Check back here for the next Pick 7 – we have midweek money rounds as well as the big Saturday jackpots.
