Options open for Lord Yeats

Jedd O'Keeffe is keeping a close eye on the weather as he weighs up Classic options for stable star Lord Yeats.

The five-year-old has the option of contesting the Comer Group International Irish St Leger at the Curragh or the German St Leger at Dortmund, which are both this coming Sunday, with the ground key to plans.

Lord Yeats was last seen when finishing 11th in the Ebor, with his near-nine-length defeat proving more than satisfactory for O'Keeffe as the good to firm ground was much quicker than the gelding prefers.

He said: "We're monitoring the ground and the weather to see where he's likely to get slower ground.

"We were thrilled with his Ebor run on ground that was just too lively for him. It was a competitive race and a really quick time, so we were really pleased with him.

"Pretty much all season we've not been able to get the right ground, on the right day anywhere in Europe, as we've been looking everywhere.

"We've not been able to run him too much, but that does mean we have a fresh horse heading into the autumn and hopefully softer ground."
