Merry Banter can give punters something to talk about after the totetrifecta Handicap at Ayr.

Trained by sprint specialist Paul Midgley, the five-year-old tackled Listed company last time out and was far from disgraced when beaten only two and a quarter lengths when fifth to Rebecca Rocks after making most of the running.

The handicapper had dropped her 2lb since the start of the season and has left her on a mark of 83, which Merry Banter should be able to exploit in this lesser company.

The Richard Fahey-trained Saint Of Katowice shaped pleasingly when third on his debut at Redcar last month and can reap the benefit of that experience in the toteplacepot EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes.

Dark Shadow can hit the limelight and record a second success at Windsor this season by lifting the Download The Marathon App Handicap.

Clive Cox's three-year-old took a qualifier for this series in good style last month and can be forgiven a defeat at Bath two weeks ago.

He failed to get a clear run at a crucial stage of the race which meant he lost his place. He could not get competitive again and had to settle for fourth place behind Beyond Equal.

Cox has every chance of a winner earlier on the card, too, with Irish Acclaim looking a leading player in the Marathonbet "Better Odds Mean Bigger Winnings" EBF Novice Stakes.

The Acclamation youngster made his debut over course and distance last month, and showed promise in his third to Knight Shield.

Green through the early stages, there was plenty to like about his finishing effort once the penny dropped.

Simon Crisford is another trainer with plenty to look forward to at the Thameside track, courtesy of Waterfront in the Horse Guards London Dry Gin Mcintyre Novice Stakes and Alnadir in the Horse Guards London Dry Gin Falls Handicap.

King's Pavilion put two good runs together at Ripon and York last month and can strike back at the first-named venue in the Ripon, Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse Handicap.

Jason Ward's six-year-old outran his odds on both occasions and looks sure to be competitive again.

Al Shahir can gain compensation for an untimely exit at Southwell by winning the Youthcomm Radio Handicap Chase at Worcester.

Despite having been off for 205 days, Dan Skelton's seven-year-old was in the process of running a big race when coming down at the 10th fence. He should go close if putting in a clear round.
