Fran Berry: Friday Dundalk Tips including Grandmaster Flash

Fran Berry previews this evening's card at Dundalk and he has four selections including Joseph O'Brien's Grandmaster Flash in the two-mile handicap.

Fran's Friday Dundalk Selections

It’s a typical tough card at Dundalk this evening, it’s very competitive, but I’ve been going through the form for Racing TV and have four bets to consider.

In the first race HIEROGLYPHIC would be one of the stronger fancies of the night for Mick Halford and Godolphin.

The Exceed And Excel filly missed the break in a slowly run race on her debut at the track on November 8 but finished very well for an eye-catching second.

She looks to have a nice turn of foot and she’s got a good draw, too, so she’s fancied to get the better of Dark Vadar, second best in the market for Joseph O’Brien, who is more exposed.

The next race is a two-mile handicap at 5.45 and it could be worth siding with GRANDMASTER FLASH for the aforementioned Joseph O’Brien.

He has some really good runs to his name at Dundalk and managed to get his head in front for the first time last time when getting the better of Elizabeth Way over 1m4f.

I don’t think he kills himself under pressure but the absolute key to him could be stepping up in trip as he’s bred for it and runs like he’ll improve for the extra distance.

Off 85 he’s still well-handicapped and though they may well turn to headgear further down the line it’s definitely worth chancing him at around 4/1 on his first go at two miles.

In the 7.45 we have a nursery and though it’s a competitive race I do quite like the each-way claims of ADAMARIS for Gerard O’Leary at around 9/1.

The Born To Sea gelding improved from three nice educational runs in maidens when making his all-weather debut at Dundalk over a mile in nursery company two weeks ago.

He was drawn in 16 that day and was trapped wide all the way, but he came home well to be beaten only three lengths and he was only half a length off Enchanted One who he reopposes this evening.

With a better draw today and with Declan McDonagh taking over in the saddle I like his each-way claims.

If first reserve Yarraman gets in the 8.15 he’s very interesting but for the last bet I’ll go with CLIFFTOP in the closing mile handicap.

I don’t think he saw out the 10-furlong trip last time out but he’s a winner over a mile at Bellewstown and he ran well over that distance here two starts ago.

He’s worth another chance from a good draw today and is another each-way fancy.
