Franconia further strengthened John Gosden's hand in the fillies' division by landing the British Stallion Studs EBF Lyric Stakes at York.
The 1/3 favourite was being ridden along by Frankie Dettori at the two furlong pole and looked to be in trouble for a stride or two as Gold Wand (7/1) set sail for home, but she knuckled down well and soon overhauled her wandering rival for a three-quarters-of-a-length success.
The winning rider said: "We didn't go that fast and it turned into a three furlong sprint with me and Andrea (Atzeni). My filly took all of two furlongs to get into top gear but in the end I was well on top.
"I suspect a mile-and-a-half will be her game from now on. She's not overly big, she's quite delicate, and we'll take it step by step.
"Even without Enable we have Frankly Darling and Star Catcher so we are strong in this department."
Reflecting on Enable's historic success at Ascot 24 hours earlier the jockey added: "She was amazing. I went home and was able to savour the day and watch it again. At the time you just focus on what you have to do but it was an almighty performance.
"It's not very often you're on the bridle with a furlong-and-a-half to go in the King George and she delivered. In the last three years she's been running to 128 every time.
"The dream of a third Arc is still alive. She looked good and we can go out there in the first Sunday of October and let's hope she's in the same form. It was always Juddmonte and Prince Khalid's dream to win a third Arc and it's great we've got three King Georges along the way."
In the more immediate future Dettori will partner Stradivarius in Tuesday's Qatar Goodwood Cup where he faces a stern test in against Irish Derby winner Santiago.
"15 pounds is a lot of weight to give away. Stradivarius won it is a three-year-old and we're facing an Irish Derby winner so you have to respect him but seeing my boy every morning, he's in tremendous form jumping around the place. He always gives you 100%," he added.
