Abacadabras cut for Sky Bet Supreme after Navan win

Abacadabras was cut to 12/1 from 25s by the sponsors for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle after a facile success at Navan on Sunday.

Gordon Elliott's charge took the step up to Grade Three company in the For Auction Novices' Hurdle in his stride, sauntering to the front approaching the final flight.

He never came off the bridle to beat market rival Latest Exhibition by three lengths with any amount in hand under Robbie Power.

"That's our 100th jumps winner of the season between England and Ireland, so it's nice to get it in a Graded race," said the trainer.

"He's a nice horse. We thought a lot of him in bumpers last year, and he ran a bit keen at both Cheltenham and Punchestown. He jumped well there today, and Puppy (Power) liked him."

Abacadabras appears likely to renew rivalry with Envoi Allen in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse on December 1.

"He's probably another horse that will go to the Royal Bond in Fairyhouse now," Elliott added. "Puppy said he was very quick getting away from his hurdles - and he was very happy. We'll keep him to two miles at the moment."

The winning rider told Racing TV: "He's very nice. The race was run to suit, they went a proper gallop all the way and he jumped a lot better than at Gowran last time. He was able to sort his feet out quicker.

"He has a very high cruising speed and can quicken off it too."

Sky Bet Head of Sports PR Michael Shinners said: "Clearly the bigger tests lay ahead for Abacadabras but he was a very useful bumper performer who promises to make up into an even better hurdler."
