Dual winner who hasn't fired since finishing second in a 3-y-o handicap here (1m) on New Year's Day. Does at least benefit from a drop in grade here.

Half-brother to a useful pair. Successful in a newcomers race at Kempton last summer. Too free when fourth (behind a now-useful pair) on return. Again less effective on turf last time, however, the booking of Billy Loughnane suggests a big run could be in the offing on return to the all-weather.

Korbut13

Borderline fairly useful filly. Runner-up for fourth consecutive start on handicap debut here in late-July. A late jink (hung badly right) wasn't enough to stop her from going one better in 3-runner Ffos Las maiden subsequently. Respected off same mark, for all this is tougher back in a handicap.

Smooth traveller who belatedly got off the mark in 6-runner maiden at Redcar (7f) in late-July. Returned to handicap company with a creditable 4¾ lengths third in higher grade at Thirsk last time and isn't fully exposed over this surface.

Hasn't kicked since winning on handicap debut at Newcastle for Archie Watson. Conditions possibly a factor when trailing the field at Chester on stable debut (6f, 40/1 soft) in early-June. Handicapped to be competitive and market usually a good guide when Danny Tudhope rides for this yard.

Won a 1m maiden here on second career start. Form regressed for George Boughey this season, finishing well beaten over C&D on latest start. Hard to be confident, for all his new yard are capable with stable-switchers.

Lieutenant Kije22
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-3| J: Harry Vigors(5)| T: T Ward| OR:  69
Bumped into a now-useful sort when runner-up in a 7f Kempton novice. Didn't look the easiest of rides on final start for Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole, though is entitled to come on for his reappearance/stable debut there last month. Potentially interesting, if he puts his best foot forward.

Resumed winning ways at Doncaster (6f) in June (form worked out well). Didn't have any excuses from latest 8-length defeat at Haydock. Still lightly raced over this trip, though, and could be worth another chance on just his second all-weather start.

Successful on handicap debut at Newcastle (6f) in March but has shown little for current connections, latterly over 6f here.

Forecasts

Korbut (1/1), Indefensible (5/1), Piscean Star (15/2), Lieutenant Kije (10/1), Chale Chalo (10/1), Black Endeavour (10/1), Tactical Blitz (16/1), Exotic Baby (16/1), Southern Warrior (66/1)

Verdict

The vote goes to PISCEAN STAR, who is seemingly a much better horse on the all-weather and could get back on track with Billy Loughnane aboard. A reasonable case can be made for Lieutenant Kije on the best of his all-weather form, while Korbut is respected now up and running.
