Fair maiden who went closer than previously this term in a race that turned into a 2f sprint when finishing third behind Nanny Park in a Doncaster handicap (14.5f) 7 weeks ago. Still needs to prove he's fully effective at this trip but this again could become tactical. Blinkers go on 1st time.

Flat/hurdles winner who steadily eased in the weights following a low-key start to the season and definite step back in right direction when second over 1m at Newmarket 2 weeks ago. Significant step back up in trip a plus for this former C&D winner if building on that.

Tricky customer who landed 4-runner Doncaster handicap (14.5f) in July and best not judged harshly on her 2 subsequent efforts, left with a lot to do when sixth of 9 at Redcar (1¾m) 3 weeks ago.

Front runner who got back on the up following a 4-day turnaround when making all in 4-runner handicap at Leicester (1½m) 4 weeks ago, displaying a good attitude to pull a long way clear with a progressive, next-time-out winner. Player back on all-weather now his stamina is tested further.

Gained a first win (tongue tied and cheekpieces on) at Ffos Las (1½m) in June. Disappointed next start but given more of a break, quickly got back on track when fourth at Wolverhampton (1½m) 4 weeks ago. Step up to 1¾m well worth exploring on that evidence.

Forecasts

Worlington (9/4), Captain Cairney (5/2), Currumbin (3/1), Lordsbridge Grey (9/2), Nanny Park (12/1)

Verdict

The 3-y-os look to hold a strong hand here and rate the pair to focus on. CAPTAIN CAIRNEY got back on the up and displayed a good attitude in the process when defeating a next-time-out winner at Leicester 4 weeks ago and shades preference over Worlington who looks worthy of a try at this trip. Currumbin is another to keep an eye on returned to a longer distance from his reduced mark.
