Hard to assess on breeding with dam being only a point-to-point maiden winner; market will give some clues as to his chances no doubt.

Third of nine on sole bumper starts at Tipperary in May. Thrown in at the deep end in a Grade 3 novice hurdle at Navan last month and looks up against it here.
Gelding by Network out of a Pistolet Bleu mare. Second of nine in a French conditions hurdle when last seen on track in April 2018. Likely to be popular in the market for respected owner/trainer combination.
Stowaway gelding out of an Old Vic mare. Fell on sole point-to-point start 12 months ago and unlikely to be troubling the judge on this occasion.
Gelding by Flemensfirth out of an Oscar mare. Cost €38,000 as a three-year-old. Possibly best watched on debut but significant jockey booking should be noted.

Gelding by Saddex out of a Tiger Hull mare. Inexpensive €15,000 as a three-year-old. Closely related to four maidens over the jumps. Hampered and clipped heels when unseating rider 3f out when still travelling well on debut at Navan last month.
Sholokhov gelding out of a Anshan mare. Cost €82,000 as a three-year-old. Brother to Melekhov a winner in bumpers and over hurdles. Market likely to reveal expectations on debut.

Another in the field by Sholokhov out of a Sagamix mare. Won a point-to-point in February by 8L before being sold for a prodigious £410,000 at the Cheltenham February sale.

Forecasts

Wide Receiver (5/4), En Beton (4/1), Inviction (6/1), The Priests Leap (13/2), Julies Stowaway (8/1), Dexter Tiger (9/1), Doyen Dancer (20/1), Ballyallaght (66/1)

Verdict

It appears to be a straight match between owners Cheveley Park and Gigginstown House Stud with their newcomers WIDE RECEIVER and En Beton. The Gordon Elliott-trained Wide Receiver won a point-to-point by 8L before being sold for £410,000 at the Cheltenham February sale and can rubber stamp his price tag at the first time of asking. Inviction for trainer Joseph O'Brien and Julies Stowaway look next best. Any market move for The Priests Leap the mount of Derek O'Connor should be noted.
  1. Wide Receiver
  2. En Beton
  3. The Priests Leap
