Winner of one of his six races when trained in France by Eoghan O'Neill, and ran a fine race on debut for current yard when a staying-on third of 14 behind Happy Power at Newbury (7f) last month. Will appreciate the return to 1m, and not dismissed.
Has improved since fitted with a hood, taking a novice at Southwell in December, and better than ever when winning a 1m handicap at Redcar last month, making all and finding extra. More required here, but attitude will stand him in good stead.
From an excellent family which trainer knows well, an improved on earlier efforts when winning a 7f novice at Lingfield (AW) by 2½L from Hostess in September, Unexposed now handicapping, and feared.
Failed to progress after making all to score at Ascot on debut, and is only 3lb lower than when well held in a 6f nursery at Newbury in October. Has something to prove on return.
Best effort last year when winning a 6f nursery in the mud at Carlisle on his final outing for Kevin Ryan, but makes his debut for a new yard under very different conditions and from an 8lb higher mark.
5½f winner for Johnny Murtagh last season before joining present yard for 50,000 gns and being gelded. Ran well after a slow start when second at Newmarket (1m), proving his stamina for this trip. may do better yet.
Landed a 1m novice on return at Kempton, and much improved when 2L second of 13 to Top Rank in similar event at Thirsk last time, pulling clear of the others. Opening mark looks very fair, and he ought to make a bold bid.
Ran at least respectably on all three starts as a juvenile, but was consistent rather than progressive, and handicapper has not been lenient with his opening mark.
Forecasts
Lehoogg (9/4), Archaeology (4/1), Tulfarris (4/1), Absolutio (5/1), Romola (8/1), Rangali Island (12/1), Production (20/1), Triple Distilled (33/1)
A race full of improving types, and few can be ruled out, but LEHOOGG fared best of those drawn low at Thirsk last time, and looks to have been let in lightly by the handicapper. Romola merits respect given her powerful connections, and Archaeology caught the eye on his first try at this trip at Newmarket, and completes the shortlist.
