Useful but exposed Flat stayer who outran his odds to win on his hurdles/stable debut at Taunton. Ran well when attempting to follow up under his penalty over 3f further again at Taunton; should make a bold bid back at 2m.
Previously quirky sort who has been rejuvenated by this yard to enjoy a very consistent season over fences for the most part. Always travels strongly (used to finish weakly) but had won back over hurdles; may get this run to suit.
Placed in Irish point-to-points before switching to hurdles, shaping like the stayer he's bred to be on both occasions over 2m. Kept to a sharp 2m now for his qualifying run; better expected in handicaps over 2m4f plus.
Modest form in bumpers/over hurdles; unlikely to show much more until he's given a longer trip to operate over and a little more time.
Modest Flat maiden (stays 1m4f) who wasn't seen to best effect when last seen in that sphere albeit at a very lowly level. Wouldn't be the most obvious first time out hurdling winner.
Looks of only modest ability based on what he's done so far in a bumper and two novice hurdles. Brother to a useful sort in Claret Cloak; one for the longer term based on his exploits so far.
Useful sort over staying trips on the Flat with John Gosden and duly opened his hurdling account at the first attempt in convincing fashion at Ludlow (2m). Couldn't live up to Grade 2 company last time, major player back in less difficult waters.
Useful sort on the Flat when with Brian Meehan (did look a hard ride on occasions though); wore a first-time visor when last seen on the level. Has joined a good yard for his hurdling career; makes his debut on the back of wind surgery; respected.
Maiden on the Flat for several different yards clocking up a record of 0-9 before shaping as if better for the run on his hurdling debut (behind a long odds-on chance). Open to further progress, of more interest for handicaps.
Made a very discouraging start to his career with both outings last summer in juvenile hurdles showing very little. Would be a surprise winner of this and others much preferred.
Winning point-to-pointer who shaped better second time up over hurdles than on her debut despite the drop back to 2m. Kept at that trip here and potential to improve again although gaining a mark is more the object of the exercise.
Flat career went sharply into reverse having had one outing in a bumper for Olly Murphy. Tongue-tie now added to the cheekpieces worn last time on the Flat; little appeal overall.
Fairly useful on the Flat; she was rather thrown in at the deep end for her hurdles debut in an Aintree Listed contest (fell two out). Given time to get over that experience; won with a bit in hand last time at Huntingdon, suited by speed test.

Dan Skelton has a 2-2 record in this opening event and he looks sure to go close again via the revitalised Peppay Le Pugh who may well get this race run to suit around a course that is ideal for his run style. Airton and Petit Palais are two ex-Flat stayers who have already made their mark over hurdles with wins at Taunton and Ludlow respectively the latter will appreciate the return to this grade. Adjutant makes his hurdles debut and should be noted in the market although he doesn’t make immediate appeal as a hurdler. MISS MUMTAZ suffered an unfortunate experience on her debut but given time and a speed test last time out she showed what she could do over hurdles.
- Miss Mumtaz
- Petit Palais
- Peppay Le Pugh
