Horse A-Z
Winner of a bumper at Uttoxeter (2m, good) in November; lacked pace at a crucial stage on AW debut at Kempton (1m4f) when finishing a staying on 7½L third to Ulster - holds plenty of these rivals based on that evidence.

Showed ability in five starts for previous handler Martyn Meade, most notably when finishing fifth to Young Rascal at Newbury (1m3f) in April; sold for 24,000gns in October and starts off life for Olly Murphy post wind surgery.

Didn't see too much racing as a 3yo for Charles Hills and was knocked down cheaply for just 4,000gns in October; debuts for his new trainer with obvious question marks against his name.

Ran twice in bumpers before making his Flat/AW debut at Kempton (1m4f) 18-days ago - has a mountain to climb with Knight Crusader and can't be considered accordingly.

Back-peddling in handicap company when last seen in competitive action for Sir Michael Stoute; no obvious improvement since being gelded, so a watching brief can only be advised at present.

60,000gns yearling; left David Simcock for a much reduced 6,500gns in October; well beaten ninth (behind Knight Crusader) on debut for current connections at Kempton (1m4f) last month; stablemate of Zahraani.

66/1
Stablemate of Mobham; has shown little in the way of ability so far (0-2), although out of a 1m3f-1m6f winning dam (Mediterranean Sea) could potentially be suited by this step up in trip; others are more convincing.

Had plenty of chances in bumpers and over hurdles (0-11); well beaten on AW/Flat debut at Kempton (1m4f); simply can't be the solution.

Forecasts

Miss Crick (11/8), Endlessly (2/1), Knight Crusader (2/1), Hidden Depths (5/2), Grange Walk (12/1), Faraway Fields (12/1), Mobham (20/1), Oborne Lady (66/1), Zahraani (66/1)

Verdict

A very winnable maiden and a race of this nature ought to be within the compass of the useful hurdler Miss Crick. She has run a couple of perfectly respectable races since switched to the AW by her trainer Alan King, albeit without necessarily going about her business like a guaranteed future maiden winner either. Outpaced when vainly chasing home Temur Khan at Southwell much depends upon how she handles the switch to this faster racing surface, so in pursuit of a value based alternative she's taken on with an admittedly broadly similar type in the shape of the top-weight KNIGHT CRUSADER.
  1. Knight Crusader
  2. Endlessly
  3. Miss Crick
