Questionable whether he would have won last time if staying upright at the last. Good to see him back to his best, but this looks tough with the handicapper penalising him harshly.
Market Rasen winner in April for Neil King and just 1lb higher here on second run for new yard. They have learned much from that and now switch him back to hurdles, step him up in trip and refit blinkers.
Into the veteran stage now but looking reasonably treated on his form of two seasons ago. Looked in need of the run last time and that may still be the case.
French recruit who joined current connections for £160,000, pulled up in three starts since and hard to be bullish about his prospects.
Winner of two races at Newton Abbot on quick ground but acquitted himself well over C&D under similar conditions last month. Time may show he faced an impossible task at the weights in finishing third to the useful White Moon off levels.
Showed much improved form to score at Worcester last month when the softer going made a difference. 8lb higher and taking on better company, but respected from a stable who are 4-17 in the last two weeks.
Has winning form at Towcester so this demanding track should suit. Shaped as though needing more of a test at Wincanton on stable debut following a six month break and hard to dismiss off this mark.
£200,000 purchase (February 2016) and repaid that faith when scoring at Carlisle last time in the style of a thorough stayer. The runner-up has scored since and he may have been let in lightly for his handicap debut.
Beat the useful Midnight Tour when last seen in May 2016. Potentially well treated and stable going well, so worth checking the market to gauge his wellbeing.
Back down to his winning mark for he first time since and with the same rider on board. Will be better for his reappearance but usual headgear is removed.
Improved form in a first-time visor in March but sported different headgear for reappearance here when tailed off. Visor refitted and no surprise if he was to play a more prominent role here.
Forecasts
Flemcara (9/2), Albert D'olivate (5/1), Indy Five (13/2), Saffron Wells (7/1), Cesar Collonges (15/2), Billy Dutton (8/1), Watcombe Heights (10/1), Hit The Highway (12/1), Max Do Brazil (14/1), Ambion Lane (16/1), Druid's Folly (25/1)
A case can be made for many of these, but CESAR COLLONGES makes most appeal based on his latest Carlisle effort when beating a subsequent winner in a style which suggested he would improve further for this stiffer test. Watcombe Heights is feared having finished third in a strong novice hurdle won by the highly regarded White Moon and Ambion Lane is better than his last run suggests. Indy Five is an interesting contender for an in form yard, whilst Robert Walford has a strong hand with Druid's Folly and Albert D'olivate both having claims at the weights.
- Cesar Collonges
- Watcombe Heights
- Druid's Folly
