Half-brother to three winners out of a dam who had some smart relations. Yard don't have a great record with their juveniles here though and have only had one debutante winner in the past year.
Pedigree makes some appeal on paper but he didn't show much on his debut at Doncaster over 7f held-up and never really involved. Looks one for the longer term and the yard are 0/12 with two-year-olds in the past five years.
Retained by the vendor for a rather cheap 3,000 gns as a foal with the dam unraced but coming from a good US family. Stable haven't had a debut juvenile winner in the past year and are 1/51 with juveniles this year and this one is best watched.
Stable know how to get one ready first time up and have about a 15% strike rate with their two-year-olds on debut in the past year. Looks to have plenty of stamina in his pedigree and will stay further than a mile but should be included in calculations here.
Made his debut at Hamilton on soft ground over a mile but was well held after being slow away and looking to need more time and best watched now.
From a yard that have had a very good season with their juveniles (27 winners so far) and made a respectable debut at Newmarket shaping well over a mile on ground with some give. Probably needs an even greater test than this mile but one for the shortlist.
Has shown promise and potential on both of his runs so far taking a step forward last time out when favourite at Beverley over 7f. Not much went right on that occasion though (poor draw; raced free; not clear run) but can step up on that here.
Hardly a cheap purchase at $550,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to four winners including Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Halfbridled. Stable have caught fire with their juveniles of late and given how much he cost he's worth watching in the market.
Holds a Derby entry and is the yard's first juvenile runner of the season with just 10 juvenile winners coming from the yard in the past five years. Quite nicely bred type being a half-brother to four winners but might just need this in a hot heat.
Dam was a winner at up to 1m4f and there is plenty of stamina down the distaff side of the pedigree. Looks the type who will appreciate further in time although the yard do have a respectable strike-rate with the debutantes and are 5/11 with juveniles here.
Cost 95,000 gns as a yearling and has a good pedigree that contains plenty of stamina on both sides and he looks the type to just need a little time. Yard are yet to reach double figures with their juveniles this year and others make more appeal.
Forecasts
Ghostwatch (4/6), Global Conqueror (3/1), The Revenant (11/2), Kings Full (10/1), Duffy (25/1), Twisted Logic (40/1), Adjutant (50/1), Pentland Hills (50/1), Bertog (100/1), Creel (100/1), French Resistance (150/1)
A race that looks well worth watching with some well-bred newcomers who have been waiting for a stamina test like this and will probably need further in time. Chief amongst those debutantes would be the costly Kings Full and Duffy along with The Revenant. Ghostwatch will be popular of those with experience from a yard that is having a very good season with their two-year-olds but GLOBAL CONQUEROR deserves the chance to show what he can do on a level playing field and he’s given the nod in a race that looks to have some strength in depth.
- Global Conqueror
- Ghostwatch
- Kings Full
