2-18, with both wins being over 6f on a sound/fast surface. The last of those was almost two years ago and, although he has been keeping good company, he is not easy to fancy on recent evidence with the weights as they are.
Has yet to add to his two successive wins on his first two starts in 2015 and despite finishing a good fourth (beaten 1L) in a Haydock Group Three last time, the handicapper has dropped him 2lb. Even so, he is the best horse in the race here, acts with cut and will take plenty of beating.
Decent handicapper who has been running with credit in class two events in that sphere. However, this is a different proposition and although conditions won't be an issue for him, the quality of the opposition is much more likely to be.
Landed a decent 7½f handicap (good to firm) at Chester's May meeting and this track his probably his second preference to that one, having scored here twice over 1m. This will test his speed to some extent, but he looks good enough to make the frame in spite of that.
7f and cut in the ground is ideal for this gelding, who has been consistent over several seasons. Should again go well, though his level of form suggests that a couple of these would need to be below par to enable him to win again.
All her wins have featured cut in the ground and she has made steady improvement throughout the last couple of seasons. although recent efforts suggest that that may have come to an end. Looks out of her depth in this field.
Beaten just 1L in last year's Group Two Royal Lodge Stakes (1m, good to firm) at Newmarket, but has not been up to that level in 2017. Acted with cut on his sole previous try on it, but not easy to assess where he is at right now and others make more appeal.
Forecasts
Mitchum Swagger (6/4), Mount Tahan (10/3), Sea Fox (5/1), That Is The Spirit (8/1), George Dryden (8/1), Sound Advice (14/1), Lavetta (25/1)
This looks to be a good opportunity for MITCHUM SWAGGER to bag a first win in two seasons, with trip and ground to suit and hopefully cheekpieces can help him do so. Sound Advice and George Dryden look to be his two most serious challengers, while That Is The Spirit should also be involved in the shake-up.
